<p>Karnataka’s <a href="http://www.smartcitytumakuru.in/">Tumakuru Smart City Limited</a> has tendered 2.7 MW of grid-connected rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) projects to be established on the city’s government buildings. The bid-submission deadline is May 3, 2018.</p>
<p>The projects will be developed under the Renewable Energy Service Company (RESCO) mode. The scope of work includes the design, supply, procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning of the grid-connected rooftop solar PV projects.</p>
<p>The successful bidders will be responsible for the operation and maintenance (O&amp;M) of the grid-connected rooftop solar PV projects for a period of 25 years.</p>
<p>The estimated project cost is ₹168.9 million (~$2.6 million).</p>
<p>Although India has so far installed nearly 1.6 GW of rooftop solar capacity, it <a href="https://mercomindia.com/report-municipalities-boost-rooftop-solar-bonds/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">needs to add</a> another 38.4 GW more if it is going to achieve its targeted goal of about 40 GW of rooftop solar capacity by 2022. Of late, the designated Smart Cities of the country have begun the development of required efficient infrastructure, including rooftop solar.</p>
<p>In <a href="https://mercomindia.com/azure-power-rooftop-solar-udaipur/">January 2017</a>, Mercom reported that Azure Power won a contract to develop a 2 MW of grid-connected rooftop solar PV project for the Udaipur Smart City Limited (USCL). The project was tendered in <a href="https://mercomindia.com/udaipur-smart-city-tenders-2-mw-rooftop-solar/">June 2017</a>.</p>
<p>In 2017, Mercom also <a href="https://mercomindia.com/?s=raipur" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that the municipal corporation of Raipur Smart City Limited tendered 2,155 kW of solar rooftop systems to be developed on government buildings in Raipur.</p>
