<p>Rural Power Company (<a href="http://rpcl.org.bd/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">RPCL</a>), a Bangladesh state-owned rural electrification company, has invited proposals from consultants to review the feasibility study conducted for a 100 MW solar project planned in Jamalpur, Bangladesh. The project will be implemented under the Indian Line of Credit (<a href="https://mea.gov.in/Lines-of-Credit-for-Development-Projects.htm" target="_blank" rel="noopener">LoC-III</a>).</p>
<p>The energy generated from this project will be evacuated to 132/33kV Ghatail grid substation at Tangail, Bangladesh. About 325 acres of land has been allotted for the 140.74 MW<sub>DC</sub> project under a long-term lease. A new substation will be built in the project area to raise the voltage from 33kV to 132kV. A further 132 kV 47 km double circuit transmission line will also be constructed from the project site and Ghatail grid substation at Tangail.</p>
<p>The last date to submit the bids is October 24, 2021.</p>
<p>The scope of work is divided into phases. The first phase includes reviewing the feasibility study by EQMS Consulting and preparing engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) tender documents for the solar project and the double circuit transmission line from the proposed project to the Ghatial grid substation.</p>
<p>The second phase includes reviewing and approving all drawing designs submitted by the EPC contractor and testing and commissioning supervision of the solar project, transmission line, and substations construction work.</p>
<p>Bidders must have supervised the design and construction of a solar project with a minimum capacity of 25 MW and the construction of an electricity transmission line of at least 132 kV and 10 km, both based on a single contract. Bidders can also bid as part of a consortium if the lead partner has ten years&#8217; experience preparing tender documents and design, review, and approval services for a 25 MW solar project.</p>
<p>Bangladesh has set a target to install 2.47 GW of renewable energy projects by 2021. A significant portion of this capacity will be developed through solar and wind projects.</p>
<p>The Bangladesh-China Renewable Energy Company recently <a href="https://mercomindia.com/bangladesh-floats-epc-tender-68-mw-solar-project/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">invited</a> bids for the EPC of a 68 MW solar power project on a turnkey basis at Sirajganj Solar Park in Bangladesh.</p>
<p>In June last year, the Asian Development Bank <a href="https://mercomindia.com/adb-invests-in-35-mw-solar-project-bangladesh/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">signed</a> a deal with Spectra Solar Park Limited to invest $17.7 million in Bangladesh&#8217;s 35 MW utility-scale solar project. Once operational, the project will provide 50 GWh of clean power to the national grid and offset 33,200 tons of carbon annually.</p>
