					</table><p>India <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/india-adds-44-gw-of-solar-module-capacity-in-1h-2025">added</a> 44.2 GW of solar module capacity and 7.5 GW of solar cell capacity in the first half (1H) of 2025, according to the recently released Mercom India research report, “State of Solar PV Manufacturing in India 1H 2025.” The manufacturing capacity additions in 1H 2025 were primarily driven by strong demand from the large-scale solar project pipeline of 186 GW between 2025 and 2027. The module manufacturing capacity also increased due to the 2030 solar installation targets and policy-driven domestic demand for solar modules that comply with the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers. Indian manufacturers currently have 182 GW of solar module capacity and 86 GW of cell capacity under construction, expected to be commissioned by 2027.</p>
<p>The DGTR <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/india-slaps-30-antidumping-duty-on-solar-cell-imports-from-china" target="_blank" rel="noopener">imposed</a> antidumping duties up to 30% on imports of solar cells, whether or not assembled into modules, originating in or exported from China for three years. The duty imposition follows the conclusion of the antidumping investigation initiated by DGTR in December 2024. The investigation was initiated following a joint application filed by FS India Solar Ventures, Jupiter International, RenewSys India, Tata Power Solar, and TP Solar. The probe was conducted for the period between April 1, 2023, and March 31, 2024. The injury period was between 2020 and 2021.</p>
<p>The Ministry of Power <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/government-issues-rco-compliance-regime-for-designated-consumers" target="_blank" rel="noopener">prescribed</a> a renewable energy consumption obligation (RCO) for designated consumers to achieve a 43.33% target by the financial year 2030. The regulation specifies a minimum share of renewable energy consumption for electricity distribution licensees, open access consumers, and captive users. The target of 43.33% RCO by FY 2030 comprises 3.48% from wind energy, 1.33% from hydro energy, 4.5% from distributed renewable energy, and 34.02% from other renewable energy sources.</p>
<p>DGTR <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/india-opens-antidumping-investigation-probe-into-solar-encapsulant-imports" target="_blank" rel="noopener">initiated</a> an investigation into the alleged dumping of solar encapsulants exported and originating from South Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam. The investigation is in response to a complaint filed by RenewSys India, which alleges that the encapsulants dumped into India from the three countries are identical to those produced by the domestic industry. The investigation will assess the consequent material injury to the domestic industry to determine the existence, degree, and effect of alleged dumping and to recommend the amount of dumping duty, which, if levied, would be adequate to remove the injury to the Indian industry.</p>
<p>The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/mnre-issues-draft-guidelines-for-storage-battery-testing-and-approval" target="_blank" rel="noopener">issued</a> draft guidelines for series approval of storage batteries for compulsory registration with the Bureau of Indian Standards under the Solar Systems, Devices, and Component Goods Order 2025. The guidelines aim to facilitate manufacturers and test laboratories in developing a series of products for approving product families. The framework applies to lead-acid batteries, lithium-ion batteries for portable and industrial applications, as well as nickel-based batteries. The reference standard for testing, sampling, and pass criteria is IS 16270:2023, which covers secondary cells and batteries for solar applications, general requirements, and testing methods.</p>
<p>The Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/gerc-allows-361-day-commissioning-relief-to-wind-energy-project" target="_blank" rel="noopener">granted</a> a 361-day extension to a wind energy developer to complete the power evacuation infrastructure for its 70 MW wind-solar hybrid power project. It also exempted the company from financial liabilities, including the encashment of the bank guarantee. The petition was filed after the wind energy developer, Shivman Wind Energy, faced delays in approvals, right-of-way agitation, and supply chain bottlenecks that affected the scheduled commercial operation date.</p>
<p>Hyderabad-based integrated solar cell and module manufacturing company Premier Energies <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/premier-energies-secures-solar-orders-worth-%E2%82%B920-million-in-benin#:~:text=Premier%20Energies%20will%20install%20750,and%20650%20solar%20water%20heaters." target="_blank" rel="noopener">won</a> contracts worth $19.95 million to supply and install solar systems in Benin, West Africa. Premier Energies will install 750 rooftop solar systems at designated socio-community facilities, including district police stations, educational institutions, health centers, and special border surveillance units. It will also install more than 4,400 high-efficiency solar streetlights and 650 solar water heaters. These solar projects are part of the Benin government’s national initiative to expand access to reliable and sustainable clean energy.</p>
<p>National Buildings Construction Corporation <a href="https://mercomindia.com/nbcc-invites-bids-for-4-mw-rooftop-solar-project-at-bokaro-steel-plant" target="_blank" rel="noopener">floated</a> an engineering, procurement, and construction tender to set up a 4 MW grid-connected rooftop solar power project at the Bokaro Steel Plant in Jharkhand. Bids must be submitted on October 13, 2025. Bids will be opened on the same day. The scope of work encompasses the design, engineering, procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning of the solar project across various sheds and buildings at the Bokaro Steel Plant. It also includes providing operation and maintenance services for five years.</p>
<p>Adani Green Energy <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/adani-green-operationalizes-408-mw-renewable-energy-projects-in-gujarat" target="_blank" rel="noopener">operationalized</a> an aggregate of 408.1 MW of renewable energy projects through its step-down subsidiaries at Khavda, Gujarat. The company’s total operational renewable energy generation capacity increased to 16,486.1 MW after the commissioning of these projects. <p>Solar energy solutions company Rays Power Infra <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/rays-power-infra-to-tap-capital-market-with-%E2%82%B911-5-billion-public-issue" target="_blank" rel="noopener">filed</a> a draft red herring prospectus with the market regulator, Securities and Exchange Board of India, for an ₹11.5 billion (~$129.5 million) initial public offering (IPO) of shares. The IPO will consist of a fresh issue of ₹9 billion (~$101.33 million) worth of shares, and an offer for sale of ₹2.5 billion (~$28.14 million) by the company’s promoters and shareholders. The net proceeds of the fresh issue will be used to fund the development of a 1.5 GW n-type TOPCon G12R solar cell manufacturing plant at Narmadapuram, Madhya Pradesh, by its subsidiary Rays Green Energy, as well as to meet incremental working capital needs and general corporate requirements.</p>
<p>Over 3.5 million Americans were <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/clean-energy-jobs-in-us-touch-3-5-million-in-2024-report" target="_blank" rel="noopener">employed</a> in clean energy occupations across renewable energy generation, battery and storage, energy efficiency, biofuels, grid modernization, and clean vehicle industries at the end of 2024, according to the Clean Jobs America report by E2. Clean energy jobs grew 2.8% in 2024, adding nearly 95,697 new jobs, outpacing the rest of the U.S.’s employment rate by three times. On a per-capita basis, clean energy jobs account for a significant share of the workforce nationwide, with an average of more than 2,200 jobs per 100,000 workers. The clean energy sector accounted for 8% of all new energy jobs added in 2024.</p>
