					</table><p>India&#8217;s efforts to boost domestic manufacturing of products used in renewable projects and strengthen local supply chains are geared towards achieving its clean energy targets.</p>
<p>The measures like the Production-linked Incentives (PLI) to promote local industries while protecting them from imports through policies like the higher customs duty and the (temporarily suspended) Approved List of Models and Manufacturers have attempted to foster a conducive environment for renewable energy manufacturers in India.</p>
<p>With the shifting geopolitical winds, the need to localize supply chains and domestically manufacture critical products has dominated global efforts in the last few years. India has also pivoted from its conventional position on several issues to improve energy security.</p>
<p>Local manufacturing also creates job opportunities and improves local economies while supporting the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises.</p>
<p>Mercom India will bring together industry panelists who will discuss local supply chains and their impact at its &#8216;<a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/event/renewables-summit-2023" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mercom India Renewables Summit 2023</a>,&#8217; an exclusive event on April 26-27 in New Delhi.</p>
<p>In a session titled &#8216;<strong>Domestic Manufacturing – Strengthening Local Supply Chains</strong>,&#8217; scheduled for April 26, 2023, panelists will discuss critical issues, opportunities, and emerging trends in the industry.</p>
<p>The panel will consist of industry stalwarts like Lalit Bohra, Joint Secretary at <a href="https://mnre.gov.in/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">MNRE</a>; Manjunath N Reddy, Founder &amp; Managing Director of <a href="https://dhashtec.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dhash PV Technologies</a>; Ivan Saha, CEO of <a href="https://www.vikramsolar.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Vikram Solar</a>, and N Ramesh, Deputy Managing Director of <a href="https://www.eximbankindia.in/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">India Exim Bank</a>.</p>
<p>Priya Sanjay, Managing Director, Mercom India, will moderate the session.</p>
<p>The government&#8217;s effort to strengthen manufacturing through policy change and financial support can only realize its full potential if the industry addresses challenges like skill development, access to affordable capital, sourcing raw materials, and competing with established manufacturers in other countries.</p>
<p>To sustain success in local manufacturing, private and public stakeholders must develop a robust research and development infrastructure, allowing innovations to flourish and support a startup ecosystem.</p>
<p>Mercom will also <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/nominations-mercom-india-awards-2023-open" target="_blank" rel="noopener">host</a> its third annual Mercom India Awards at the Summit, recognizing the exceptional achievement and technological innovations by companies contributing to India&#8217;s clean energy industry.</p>
<p>The event will also, for the first time, feature a Startup Pitch Competition, which will <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/mercom-launches-cleantech-startup-competition" target="_blank" rel="noopener">provide</a> the stage for Indian entrepreneurs and companies to present their innovative cleantech ideas or technologies in early-stage development.</p>
