<p><strong>India </strong><a href="https://mercomindia.com/indias-solar-power-generation-rises-by-36-yoy-in-9m-2022/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>generated</strong></a><strong> around 70.24 billion units (BU) of solar power in the first nine months (9M) of the calendar year (CY) 2022</strong>, a 36% increase compared to 51.67 BU during the same period last year. Solar generation has been on an upward trend since 9M 2018 when it hit 26.45 BU. The increase in overall solar power generation is attributed to the new capacity additions during the first nine months of the year.</p>
<p><strong>Mumbai-based rooftop solar start-up SolarSquare </strong><a href="https://mercomindia.com/solarsquare-raises-12-8-million-series-a-funding/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>raised</strong></a><strong> ₹1 billion ($12.8 million) as part of its series A funding round</strong> led by Elevation Capital and U.S.-based climate-focused fund Lowercarbon Capital. SolarSquare designs, installs, and finances rooftop solar systems for homes and provides rooftop solar solutions for housing societies and commercial establishments. The funds will be used to shore up the company’s presence in the next 18-24 months and deploy the investment to ramp up its installations to build a seamless user experience.</p>
<p><strong>Tata Power Solar, Amplus Solar, Fourth Partner Energy, Roofsol Energy, and Havells India </strong><a href="https://mercomindia.com/top-rooftop-companies-1h-2022-tata-power-amplus-fourth-partner/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>were</strong></a><strong> the top solar rooftop companies in India in the first half (1H)</strong> of the calendar year (CY) 2022, according to Mercom’s recently released India Solar Market Leaderboard 1H 2022.</p>
<p><strong>The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy </strong><a href="https://mercomindia.com/mnre-approves-%e2%82%b98-5-billion-national-bioenergy-program/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>notified</strong></a><strong> the National Bioenergy Program, valid from FY 2021-22 to FY 2025-26.</strong> The program has been recommended for implementation in two phases. A budget outlay of ₹8.58 billion (~$104.66 million) has been approved for Phase-I. Out of the total budget, ₹6 billion (~$73.18 million) has been approved for the waste-to-energy program, ₹1.58 billion (~$19.27 million) for the biomass program, and 1 billion (~$12.19 million) for the biogas program.</p>
<p><strong>The Directorate General of Trade Remedies </strong><a href="https://mercomindia.com/anti-dumping-probe-on-solar-module-imports-from-china-thailand-vietnam-terminated/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>terminated</strong></a><strong> the anti-dumping probe on solar cells imports </strong>from China, Vietnam, and Thailand. The probe was terminated after the petitioner, the Indian Solar Manufacturers Association, submitted that basic customs duty (BCD) on solar cells and modules covered the entire scope of the product under investigation and alleviated the price pressure on the domestic industry to a considerable extent.</p>
<p><strong>India </strong><a href="https://mercomindia.com/india-installs-a-record-10-gw-of-solar-in-9m-2022/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>installed</strong></a><strong> a record 10 GW of new solar capacity during 9M of 2022, an increase of 35% YoY,</strong> according to Mercom India Research’s newly released <a href="https://mercomindia.com/product/q3-2022-india-solar-market-update" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Q3 2022 India Solar Market Update</a> report. In 9M 2022, India added over 12 GW of total power capacity, with 76% of the new capacity coming from solar power. India’s cumulative installed solar capacity now stands at 60 GW. The country has a utility-scale project pipeline of over 58 GW. Nearly 46 GW of tendered projects await auction.</p>
<p><strong>Jinko Solar, Trina Solar, JA Solar, LONGi Solar, and Adani Solar were the leading module suppliers to the Indian solar market in 1H CY 2022</strong>, according to Mercom’s recently released <a href="https://mercomindia.com/product/mercoms-india-solar-market-leaderboard-1h-2022-market-shares-and-profiles" target="_blank" rel="noopener">India Solar Market Leaderboard 1H 2022</a>. The top five module suppliers accounted for 52% of the market share. Besides Adani Solar, two other Indian module manufacturers made it to the top 10 module suppliers list.</p>
<p><strong>Sungrow, Sineng Electric, FIMER India, Ginlong (Solis) Technologies, and SOFARSOLAR </strong><a href="https://mercomindia.com/sungrow-sineng-fimer-solis-top-solar-inverter-companies-in-1h-2022/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>were</strong></a><strong> the leading solar inverter suppliers in India in 1H CY 2022</strong>, according to Mercom’s recently released <a href="https://mercomindia.com/product/mercoms-india-solar-market-leaderboard-1h-2022-market-shares-and-profiles" target="_blank" rel="noopener">India Solar Market Leaderboard 1H 2022</a>.</p>
<p><strong>India </strong><a href="https://mercomindia.com/bcd-effect-indias-solar-imports-down-exports-surge-in-q3-2022/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>exported</strong></a><strong> solar cells and modules worth $157 million (~₹12.76 billion) in the third quarter (Q3) of CY 2022</strong>, an increase of 642% YoY compared to 21.17 million (~₹1.72 billion), according to the Department of Commerce data. On a QoQ basis, exports went up by 499% from $26.22 million (~₹2.13 billion). Imports of solar cells and modules during the quarter declined by 59% YoY to $394 million (~₹32.02 billion) as a result of BCD and Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM). On a QoQ basis, imports fell by 34% from $597.48 million (~₹48.55 billion).</p>

<p><strong>India </strong><a href="https://mercomindia.com/india-adds-1-2-gw-rooftop-solar-9m-2022/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>installed</strong></a><strong> over 1.2 GW of rooftop solar capacity in 9M CY 2022, a decline of 11% YoY,</strong> according to Mercom India Research’s newly released <a href="https://mercomindia.com/product/rooftop-solar-market-report-q3-2022/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mercom India Rooftop Solar Market Report Q3 2022</a>. In the third quarter (Q3) of CY22, India installed over 320 MW of rooftop solar capacity, a YoY decline of approximately 29%. On a QoQ basis, installed capacity fell by 18%. Cumulative rooftop solar capacity at the end of Q3 CY22 reached 8.3 GW.</p>
<p><strong>Investments in the Indian solar sector in Q3 CY 2022 totaled $2 billion (~₹161.1 billion), a 30% QoQ decrease compared to the $2.9 billion</strong> (~$220.6 billion) in Q2 2022. Investments were down 45%  YoY from $3.7 billion (~$271.2 billion). The figures were revealed in Mercom India Research’s latest report, <a href="https://mercomindia.com/product/q3-2022-india-solar-market-update/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Q3 2022 India Solar Market Update</a>. In Q3 2022, solar installations fell by 32.5% QoQ, with several large projects postponed to future quarters, directly resulting in lower investments.</p>

<p><strong>Jinko Solar</strong>’s module shipments globally <a href="https://mercomindia.com/increased-n-type-module-shipments-push-jinko-revenue/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">doubled</a> in the third quarter of 2022, according to the company. The N-type module shipments were approximately 3 GW, up 160% sequentially. Jinko Solar has built a vertically integrated solar product value chain, with an integrated annual capacity of 40 GW for mono wafers, 40GW for solar cells, and 50GW for solar modules, as of June 2022. The company has nine production facilities globally. The company announced a maximum efficiency of 25.7% for its large-size monocrystalline silicon TOPCon solar cell.</p>
<p><strong>Trina Solar</strong> has announced the groundbreaking of its New Energy Industrial Park project in China to cover almost the entire PV manufacturing chain from polysilicon production to modules based on 210mm and N-type technology. The factory will include production lines with an annual output of 300,000 metric tons of industrial silicon, 150,000 metric tons of high-purity polysilicon, 35 GW of mono silicon, 10 GW of wafer slices, 10 GW of cells, 10 GW of modules, and 15 GW of auxiliaries for modules.</p>
<p>With 12 manufacturing bases and more than 20 branches worldwide<strong>, JA Solar</strong>’s business covers silicon wafers, cells, and modules. JA Solar products are available in 135 countries and</p>
<p>regions and are used extensively in ground-mounted solar projects and rooftop solar installations of commercial, industrial, and residential customers. The company has been listed on Fortune China 500 and Global Top 500 New Energy Enterprises for several consecutive years. In May 2022, JA Solar released its first n-type PV module, DeepBlue 4.0 X, marking its entry into the n-type PV product market. The company announced the maximum power of their n-type module reaching 625W and efficiency of up to 22.4%. The company’s solar modules are used across multiple utility-scale projects in India, including a 130 MW and a 70 MW ground-mounted project in Maharashtra, a 69 MW ground-mounted project in Telangana, and a 53 MW ground-mounted project in Gujarat, among others.</p>
<p><strong>LONGi Solar</strong> has <a href="https://mercomindia.com/daily-news-wrap-up-vestas-supplies-to-vibrant-energys-wind-project/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">introduced</a> the Hi-MO 6, its first module designed exclusively for the global distributed consumer market. Using LONGi’s high-efficiency hybrid passivated back contact (HPBC) cell technology, Hi-MO 6 achieved a maximum efficiency of 22.8% in mass production. In May this year, LONGi <a href="https://mercomindia.com/mahindra-susten-commissions-175-mw-solar-project-rajasthan/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">supplied</a> 535 kW bifacial modules to Mahindra Susten, the engineering, procurement, and construction arm of Mahindra Group, for the latter’s 175 MW solar project in Kolayat of Bikaner district in Rajasthan.</p>
<p><strong>Adani Solar</strong> is building a fully integrated and comprehensive 10 GW solar manufacturing ecosystem in Mundra, India. The Mundra plant is expected to play host to the entire solar manufacturing ecosystem, from polysilicon to modules, including ancillaries and supporting utilities. The company currently has a solar cell and module manufacturing capacity of 3.5 GW.</p>
<p>Adani was awarded a performance-linked incentive (PLI) amount of ₹6.63 billion (~$81.06 million) for a capacity of nearly 737 MW of vertically-integrated high-efficiency solar modules.</p>

<p>Amplus owns and manages a portfolio of over 1 GW of operational and under-construction distributed solar assets.</p>
<p>Amplus Solar <a href="https://mercomindia.com/mercom-india-solar-awards-2022/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">won</a> the award for the best residential project in Mercom India Awards 2022. The award was accorded to Atrium, a designer edition solar pergola from HomeScape by Amplus Solar.</p>
<p>Fourth Partner Energy has installed over 500 MW of rooftop solar projects for India&#8217;s top businesses and institutions. It has <a href="https://mercomindia.com/british-international-investment-89-million-solar-projects/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">received</a> $47 million as a follow-on investment from British International Investment (BII). Fourth partner, in total, has received $80 million in investments from BII.</p>
<p>Roofsol Energy commissioned a 5 MW rooftop solar system for textile manufacturer ST COTTEX in Ludhiana, Punjab. The system installed under the RESCO model is expected to generate 6.7 million units of electricity in the first year and replace 7,000 tons of greenhouse gases annually.</p>

Top Rooftop Solar Companies in 1H 2022: Tata Power Solar, Amplus, Fourth Partner Energy

					</table><p><a href="https://en.sungrowpower.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sungrow</a>, <a href="https://en.si-neng.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sineng Electric</a>, <a href="https://www.fimer.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">FIMER India</a>, <a href="https://www.ginlong.com/global" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ginlong (Solis) Technologies</a>, and <a href="https://www.sofarsolar.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">SOFARSOLAR</a> were the leading solar inverter suppliers in India in the first half (1H) of the calendar year (CY) 2022, according to Mercom&#8217;s recently released <a href="https://mercomindia.com/product/mercoms-india-solar-market-leaderboard-1h-2022-market-shares-and-profiles" target="_blank" rel="noopener">India Solar Market Leaderboard 1H 2022</a>.</p>
<p>The report provides insights into the industry leaders&#8217; market share and shipment rankings across the Indian solar supply chain.</p>
<p>Sungrow was the top solar inverter supplier in 1H 2022 and is also the leading solar inverter company cumulatively.</p>
<p>Sungrow <a href="https://mercomindia.com/daily-news-wrap-up-sungrow-10-gw-solar-inverter-manufacturing/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">inaugurated</a> a 10 GW solar inverter manufacturing facility in New Delhi earlier this year. The company also has a 3 GW facility in Bangalore. Sungrow has over 269 GW of solar inverters installed worldwide.</p>
<p>In September, Sungrow surpassed 14 GW inverter shipments to the Indian market. Sungrow’s inverters are in many key projects, including the 400 MW project in Bhadla Solar Park of Rajasthan, the 250 MW Ayana Project in Andhra Pradesh, and the 70 MW Kayamkulam floating solar project.</p>
<p>Sungrow, Sineng Electric, and FIMER India accounted for 68% of the market share in 1H 2022.</p>

<p>Sungrow, Solis, SOFARSOLAR, <a href="https://www.ginverter.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Growatt</a>, and <a href="https://en.goodwe.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">GoodWe</a> were the top solar string inverter suppliers, accounting for 94% of the market share.</p>
<p>Solis has supplied its 255 kW three-phase string inverter to NTPC’s 30 MW Rihand solar project in Uttar Pradesh. Entering India with a focus on residential and C&amp;I markets, the company plans to capture a greater share of the utility-scale solar market.</p>
<p>Growatt unveiled its X Series solar inverters with 0.75-253kW power capacity range. Growatt’s X Series inverter features a higher power density and a higher input string current of up to 22.5A that makes it compatible with high power modules. It can be used in residential, commercial and industrial, and large-scale solar projects.</p>

<p>Sineng Electric, Sungrow, FIMER India, and <a href="https://www.tmeic.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">TMEIC</a> were the top solar central inverter suppliers. Central inverters represented the majority of solar inverters supplied during the period.</p>
<p>Sineng Electric supplied its flagship 3.125MW central inverter solution to the 200 MW Raghanesda Solar Park in Banaskantha District of Gujarat. The inverter solution is tailored for 1500V solar project. It is suitable for the arid environment as there is no derating up to 50℃. The 3.125MW central inverter solution is also used at the 300 MW Pokhran Solar Park.</p>
<p>As of June, GoodWe announced that it had shipped over 2 GW of solar inverter shipments to India.</p>
<p>FIMER supplied its 1MVA inverters to the Integrated Solar Energy Project in Modhera, Gujarat. This project features a 6 MW grid connect system with 6MVA inverters and an 18 MWh battery energy storage system.</p>

The extension was granted after the industry sought more time for compliance, considering the testing issues and the test labs&#8217; level of preparation.</p>

Sungrow, Sineng, FIMER, Solis Top Solar Inverter Companies in 1H 2022

<p><a href="https://en.sungrowpower.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Sungrow</a>, <a href="https://www.fimer.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">FIMER</a> India (formerly ABB), and <a href="http://en.si-neng.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Sineng Electric</a> were top solar inverter suppliers overall to the Indian solar market in the first half (1H) of the calendar year (CY) 2020, according to <a href="https://mercomindia.com/india-solar-market-leaders-1h-2020/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Mercom’s India Solar Market Leaderboard for 1H of 2020</a>.</p>
<p>Mercom’s latest report provides insight into the industry leaders’ market share and shipment rankings across the Indian solar supply chain.</p>

<p>The top three companies accounted for about 57% of solar inverter shipments in 1H 2020. The top ten suppliers shipped around 93% of solar inverters sold during the half, with other smaller players accounting for only 7% of shipments.</p>
<p><strong>String Inverters: </strong></p>
<p><a href="https://www.huawei.com/en/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Huawei</a>, Sungrow, and <a href="https://www.kehua.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Kehua Hengsheng</a> were the top three string inverter suppliers with a 56% market share during the first half of the year. The top five suppliers held a 72% market share for string inverters in this period in terms of shipments.</p>

<p><strong>Central Inverters: </strong></p>
<p>Sungrow, FIMER India, and Sineng Electric were the top three suppliers of central inverters between January 2020 and June 2020. Together, they supplied about 87% of all central inverters shipped during the period. The top five companies held a 97% market share for central inverters in terms of shipments.</p>

<p>The report showed that cumulatively, FIMER India was the largest solar inverter supplier as of June 2020.</p>
<p>The government has <a href="https://mercomindia.com/basic-customs-duty-solar-cells-modules/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">announced</a> plans to curb solar imports to save foreign exchange and bring in foreign direct investment to boost domestic manufacturing by levying a basic customs duty (BCD) on solar cells, modules, and solar inverters.</p>
<p>However, when it comes to solar inverters, most current suppliers are global players who have set up manufacturing facilities in India. Unlike module manufacturers, there are hardly any local Indian manufacturers of solar inverters with a sizable market share. Mercom recently <a href="https://mercomindia.com/basic-customs-duty-solar-inverters/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">wrote</a> about how the government needs to incentivize domestic component manufacturing before levying duties.</p>
<p>In July, The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy <a href="https://mercomindia.com/deadline-bis-certification-solar-inverters-extended-2/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">extended</a> the deadline for the self-certification of solar inverters to December 31, 2020, in light of the disruption caused by the COVID-19 crisis.</p>
<p>One of the important points <a href="https://mercomindia.com/its-lcoe-adopting-module-mercom-webinar/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">discussed</a> in Mercom’s recent webinar was the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification mandate by the Indian government that has been weighing on the industry. Participants opined that this mandate had left the Indian solar sector at least three or six months behind when it comes to adopting the latest technology. They agreed that this has hindered technological innovation and that the government needs to encourage the industry to worry less about costs and focus on adopting the latest technology. Sungrow, FIMER, Sineng Were Major Solar Inverter Suppliers to India in 1H 2020

<p>ReNew Power, NLC India, and Azure Power emerged as the top utility-scale solar project developers in India in terms of installed capacity in the calendar year (CY) 2019, according to Mercom’s recently released report: <a href="https://mercomindia.com/product/mercom-india-solar-market-leaderboard-2020-market-shares-profiles" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">India Solar Market Leaderboard 2020</a>. Together, these three developers accounted for nearly 35% of total large-scale installations in 2019.</p>
<p>The top ten utility-scale project developers in 2019 accounted for approximately 70% of installed capacity. Total large-scale capacity additions amounted to 6.2 GW, of which the top ten developers contributed about 4.3 GW. Large-scale solar installations represented 85% of total installations, and rooftop solar made up the remaining 15%.</p>
<p>While three companies installed more than 500 MW, none of the developers installed more than a GW in a year when utility-scale solar installations declined year-over-year (YoY) by 7%.</p>

<p>India’s solar installations, including both rooftop and large-scale recorded in the calendar year 2019, stood at around 7.3 GW, a 12% decline YoY, and the country’s cumulative installed solar capacity rose to 35.7 GW.</p>
<p>According to the report, <a href="https://www.adani.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Adani</a>, ACME Solar, and ReNew Power were the top three utility-scale solar project developers in terms of overall cumulative installed capacity as of December 2019. Three developers in India have installed more than 2 GW each, and another five developers have installed more than 1 GW of large-scale projects each.</p>
<p>In terms of the utility-scale project pipeline, Azure Power had the largest development pipeline followed by SB Energy, NTPC, ACME Solar, and ReNew Power. Three developers have a project pipeline of more than 2 GW, and four developers have a pipeline of over 1 GW each.</p>
<p>In the first half of 2019 (1H 2019), <a href="https://www.azurepower.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Azure Power</a> was the top project developer, according to Mercom’s <a href="https://mercomindia.com/product/mercom-india-solar-market-leaderboard-1h-2019/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">India Market Leaderboard 1H 2019</a>.</p>
<p>India’s cumulative large-scale installation capacity reached approximately 31.3 GW by the end of 2019. Land acquisition, transmission, and successfully acquiring approvals remain a challenge to commission large-scale projects on time.</p>
<p>In 2019, Karnataka was the top state for solar installations, followed by Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu. Karnataka accounted for 29% of the total installed solar capacity in 2019.</p>
