Once operational, Q Energy expects the Whinfield project to generate clean electricity enough to power over 8,700 households in the UK.</p>
<p><strong>BayWa r.e., a renewable energy service provider, developer, and distributor, </strong><a href="https://mercomcapital.com/baywa-r-e-acquires-46-mw-solar-project-in-romania/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>announced</strong></a><strong> the acquisition of the 46 MW White Gate solar project</strong> in Constanța county in Southeastern Romania. Romanian-based law firm Filip &amp; Company advised the company. Financial details about the transaction were not disclosed.</p>
<p><strong>Recurrent Energy, a solar and energy storage project developer and a wholly owned subsidiary of Canadian Solar, announced that it </strong><a href="https://mercomcapital.com/recurrent-energy-secures-103-million-tax-credit-transfer-agreement-for-solar-project/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>signed</strong></a><strong> a $103 million tax credit facilitation agreement with Bank of America for the 160 MW North Fork Solar Project. </strong>The already operational project is located southwest of Oklahoma City. NordLB and Rabobank provided financing for the project. CRC-IB and Latham &amp; Watkins advised Recurrent Energy on the tax credit transfer transaction.</p>
<p><strong>Savion, a utility-scale solar and energy storage project developer, announced the </strong><a href="https://mercomcapital.com/savion-sells-150-mw-solar-project-to-ameren-missouri/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>completion</strong></a><strong> of the 150 MW Cass County Solar Project sale to Ameren Missouri</strong>, an electric power utility company. Located near Beardstown, Illinois, and spanning about 1,700 acres, the construction of the solar project began in June 2023 and is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2024. Up to 330,000 solar modules are expected to be utilized in the project. Once operational, the project will supply electricity to the Midcontinent Independent System Operator power grid.</p>
<p><strong>Renewable energy solutions provider KPI Green Energy has </strong><a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/kpi-green-secures-mw-solar-project" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>secured</strong></a><strong> a credit facility of ₹6.86 billion (~$82.1 million) to develop a 200 MW solar photovoltaic power project</strong> in Khavda, Kutch District. The credit facility comes after the company recently raised ₹3 billion (~$36.08 million) through qualified institutions placement.</p>

<p><strong>Alternus Energy Group, a renewable energy independent power producer, has <a href="https://mercomcapital.com/power-producer-alternus-public-via-spac-deal/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">completed</a> its merger with Clean Earth Acquisitions Corp</strong>, a special purpose acquisition company. The transaction was approved by Clean Earth shareholders. The newly formed company, Alternus Clean Energy, will trade on the NASDAQ Stock Market under the ticker symbol ALCE starting December 26, 2023. Alternus Energy Group will retain approximately 80% ownership of the company, while Clean Earth sponsors and public shareholders will hold the remaining shares.</p>

The deal will enhance Kraken’s asset management offering, allowing it to develop more innovative products and services for its clients. It will also increase Kraken’s contracted energy generation and storage assets sixfold, from 6.5 GW to 36 GW, and enable it to manage offshore wind farms for the first time.</p>

Solarcraft Power India 12 won 50 MW under the bucket-filling method by quoting ₹2.54 (~$0.0305)/kWh. The projects will be developed on a build-own-operate basis under the program for flexibility in generating and scheduling thermal-hydropower by bundling with renewable energy and storage.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/cerc-approves-compensation-in-change-in-law-case" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission has approved a plea by ReNew Sun Waves (RSWPL) to receive compensation, both before and after the commercial operation date, to</strong></a> offset the financial impact of safeguard duty on solar cells or modules and increased customs duty on solar inverters. The compensation will be disbursed at a discount rate of 9%, and the annuity period is set at 15 years. RSWPL will also be entitled to carrying costs from the date of actual payments made to the authorities until the issuance of this order.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/rajasthan-to-allow-annual-revision-in-biomass-tariffs" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>The Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission has allowed the annual change in tariff for biomass projects in the state based on the increase or decrease in variable charges like fuel costs.</strong></a> Under the proposed “Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission (Terms and Conditions for Tariff determination from Renewable Energy Sources) (Second Amendment) Regulations, 2023,” the tariff for biomass projects determined in the financial year (FY) 2023-24 will apply for the FY 2024-25 and FY 2025-26. <p>Post the allotment, the company’s paid-up equity share capital rose from ₹376.52 million (~$4.53 million) to ₹401.88 million (~$4.83 million) consisting of 40.19 million equity shares each.</p>
<p>The list of few notable investors who were allotted more than 5% of the equity shares offered in the issue include funds managed by Quant Mutual Fund, JM Financial Mutual Fund, SBI General Insurance, Societe Generale, Copthall Mauritius Investment, CITI group Global Markets Mauritius, Morgan Stanley Asia (Singapore), East Bridge Capital, Bengal Finance and Investment and Vikasa India.</p>
<p>The company did not disclose how the funds would be utilized.</p>
<p>KPI Green had announced on September 1, 2023, that it would raise funds through QIPs, following its win of the Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam’s auction to develop solar projects in Khavda Solar Park. KPI had <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/kpi-sael-nlc-india-guvnls-800-mw-solar-auction" target="_blank" rel="noopener">won</a> 100 MW as the base capacity by quoting ₹2.70 (~$0.0324)/kWh, and later, the company secured an additional 100 MW capacity under the greenshoe option.</p>
<p>The company <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/kpi-green-net-profit-q1-fy24" target="_blank" rel="noopener">posted</a> a net profit of ₹347.5 million (~$4.19 million) in the second quarter of the financial year 2024, an increase of 64% year-over-year from ₹211.6 million (~$2.54 million).</p>
<p>As of September 30, 2023, KPI Green commissioned more than 346 MW, including 141 MW in independent power producer projects and 205 MW in captive power projects.</p>
<p>At the end of the first nine months of 2023, KPI Green’s order book was for more than 541 MW, of which 279 MW projects were under the Independent Power Producer segment, 77 MW under the captive power producer segment, and 185 MW under hybrid. The company has set a target of installing 1 GW by 2025.</p>

The last date for the submission of bids is November 29, 2023. Bids will be opened on the next day.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/reduced-cost-residential-solar-growth-in-the-us" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>New residential solar installations in the U.S. had a median size of 7.2 kW in 2022, a significant jump from the 2.4 kW seen in 2000, thanks to cost reductions and improved module efficiencies,</strong> </a> according to the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. This trend is heavily influenced by California, which contributes significantly to the data even if it has smaller residential system sizes. In most states, the median size of residential photovoltaic systems in 2022 exceeded 8 kW, with many states exceeding 9 kW.</p>

<p>In a regulatory filing, KPI Green Energy said its board of directors had approved the acquisition of 9,900 equity shares of KPark Sunbeat, a related party transaction. KPI has been consolidating the solar projects of the KP Group into a single entity, KPI Green Energy.</p>
<p>Upon completion of the transaction, KPark will become a group subsidiary.</p>
<p>KPI Green said the acquisition aims to harness the benefits of scale, enabling more efficient resource allocation. The company has set a target of reaching a combined renewable energy capacity of 1 GW by 2025.</p>
<p>The payment for this acquisition will be a two-part process. KPI Green Energy will issue and allot 15,18,480 equity shares, each with a face value of ₹10 (~$0.12). The issue price for these shares is set at ₹830.15 (~$10) per share, with the remaining amount covered through a cash payment.</p>
<p>KPark specializes in developing solar power projects and plans to set up a 100 MW solar park in Gujarat. This includes a 70 MW solar park in Dhrangadhra and a 30 MW project in Surat.</p>
<p>The company holds 2,11,367 sq. meters of freehold land in Surendranagar, Gujarat, dedicated to solar projects. It has also secured approvals from Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Limited for power evacuation to nearby substations.</p>
<p>KPI Green Energy was one of the <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/kpi-sael-nlc-india-guvnls-800-mw-solar-auction" target="_blank" rel="noopener">winners</a> of Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam’s auction to develop 800 MW of grid-connected solar power projects (Phase XX) at the Khavda Solar Park in Gujarat. KPI Energy bagged 100 MW by quoting ₹2.70 (~$0.033)/kWh.</p>
<p>In December, KPI Green <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/daily-news-wrap-up-mwh-energy-storage-contract-with-engie/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">received</a> an order for a 33 MW solar power project under the captive power producer segment. Gujarat Energy Development Agency granted the commissioning certificate.</p>

Palette’s distribution network in Nigeria consists of resellers, installers, and a support team. With their ESS solutions in collaboration with Palette, JinkoSolar intends to bring new development opportunities to Nigeria and make renewable electricity accessible and affordable to every household and factory.</p>
<p><strong>KGAL, a Germany-based asset management company, </strong><a href="https://www.kgal.de/en/newsdesk/pressnews/detail?tx_t2news_news%5Bcontroller%5D=News&amp;tx_t2news_news%5Bnews%5D=317&amp;cHash=8b1c9f440d96a1a56568e84f5e594fb4" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>announced</strong></a><strong> that it had received a green light for three large-scale solar power projects in Italy.</strong> The approved solar parks located in the Lazio region and Sicily will have a total output of approximately 380 MW. They will be successively connected to the grid from the first quarter of 2024. Together with other projects, KGAL is developing solar and wind parks with a total capacity of more than 1.2 GW in the Italian market. <p><strong>Octopus Energy Group’s generation arm, one of the largest investors in solar and wind energy in Europe, </strong><a href="https://octopus.energy/press/octopus-energy-enters-german-renewable-generation-market-with-first-wind-farm-investment/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>signed</strong></a><strong> its first renewable generation deal in Germany,</strong> helping to boost the country’s energy security. Octopus Energy Generation’s fund management team will build ‘Gaishecke,’ a 35 MW onshore wind farm in Hessen, near Frankfurt. Construction will kick off in the next few weeks. The farm will become operational by the end of 2023. The ten wind turbines made by Vestas will generate almost 100 GWh, enough green energy to power nearly 40,000 households a year. This will offset nearly 60,000 tonnes of CO2 a year, the same as taking 30,000 petrol cars off the road. Octopus bought the wind farm construction rights from a consortium of sellers. It aims to ramp up its generation portfolio in Germany quickly, and its fund management team is already scoping out other sites. By 2030, the company plans to operate 1,200 MW of wind and solar farms across the country.</p>
