Neoen, an independent renewable energy producer that develops, finances, builds, and operates large-scale solar, wind, and battery storage projects, has <a href="https://mercomcapital.com/neoen-sells-760-mw-operating-renewable-portfolio-in-france/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">entered</a> into an agreement with Plenitude, a subsidiary of Eni, to sell a 760 MW portion of its French operating asset portfolio. The portfolio consists of 52 renewable energy assets, which include 37 solar projects, 14 onshore wind projects, and one battery storage project.
Standard Solar, a community solar project developer, <a href="https://mercomcapital.com/standard-solar-acquires-two-community-solar-projects-from-cenergy-power/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> the acquisition of two community solar projects totaling 9 MW in Illinois from Cenergy Power, a solar project developer. The Worden project in Worden, Illinois, is a 6.7-MW single-axis tracker community solar project that is expected to produce about 11,060 MWh of clean energy in its first year. The Zion Park District project is a 2.4 MW ground-mounted community solar project in Zion, Illinois, and is anticipated to generate 3,529 MWh annually.
Northland Power, a renewable energy project developer, <a href="https://mercomcapital.com/northland-acquires-300-mw-1-2-gwh-of-battery-storage-projects-in-poland/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> the acquisition of two battery energy storage systems totaling 300 MW/1.2 GWh in Poland. The projects were acquired from Greenvolt Power, a renewable energy project developer. The project portfolio consists of the 200 MW/800 MWh Mieczysławów project and the 100 MW/400 MWh Kamionka project, both with a four-hour duration. The projects are located in western Poland.
CrossBoundary Energy, a renewable energy developer, <a href="https://mercomcapital.com/crossboundary-secures-renewable-energy-expansion/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">secured</a> $200 million of additional senior debt, closing a second tranche of a portfolio financing facility arranged by the Standard Bank of South Africa Limited (SBSA), which was first closed in December 2024.
JUWI, a wholly owned subsidiary of MVV Energie AG, signed an agreement with Mirova, an asset management firm and an affiliate of Natixis Investment Managers, for the <a href="https://mercomcapital.com/juwi-sells-156-mw-solar-project-portfolio-in-greece/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">sale</a> of the 156 MW Clover solar project portfolio in Greece. The Clover solar portfolio, developed by JUWI Hellas, comprises four projects located in the regional units of Kozani and Grevena in Northwest Greece.
Recurrent Energy, a solar and energy storage project developer and wholly owned subsidiary of Canadian Solar, <a href="https://mercomcapital.com/recurrent-energy-sells-hybrid-275-mw-solar-120-mw-battery-project/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> the sale of its Gunning hybrid solar and battery storage project in Australia to a European infrastructure and investment group. Gunning Energy Park, located in New South Wales, comprises a 275 MW solar plant with a 120 MW battery energy storage system, which will connect to the National Electricity Market via a Transgrid transmission line.

JUWI, a renewable energy project developer and wholly owned subsidiary of MVV Energie, announced the <a href="https://mercomcapital.com/juwi-sells-267-mw-solar-portfolio-in-greece/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">sale</a> of a 267 MW solar portfolio in Greece to Foresight and Mirova, a Paris headquartered asset management company. The construction of the projects is expected to begin in August 2024. The portfolio comprises three solar projects with an individual capacity of 160 MW, 40 MW, and 67 MW.
Clearway Energy Group, a developer and operator of clean energy projects, <a href="https://mercomcapital.com/clearway-secures-700-million-financing-for-solar-and-storage-project/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> that it has secured more than $700 million in construction financing for the 200 MW Luna Valley Solar Project and a 113.5 MW standalone energy storage project in San Bernardino County, which is in the final phase of the 482 MW Daggett Solar + 394 MW Storage complex. The construction of the projects has already begun, and commercial operations of both projects are scheduled for 2025.
Frontier Energy, an Australian clean energy project developer, <a href="https://mercomcapital.com/frontier-energy-secures-142-million-in-debt-financing/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">secured</a> A$215 million (~$142.42 million) in senior project debt financing for developing the Waroona Renewable Energy Project  with Infradebt, an Australian infrastructure fund manager. The funding will support the construction and operation of Stage One of the WERP, a solar plus storage project.
GoldenPeaks Capital, an independent renewable energy power producer, <a href="https://mercomcapital.com/goldenpeaks-capital-secures-financing-for-177-mw-solar-project-portfolio-in-poland/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">secured</a> €109 million (~$118.46 million) in financing across separate transactions for two large-scale solar project portfolios in Poland. Both portfolios, having a total capacity of 177 MW, are being developed by GoldenPeaks Capital. The two portfolios comprise over 100 solar projects, which are in various stages of construction and scheduled for commercial operations by Q4 2024.
Green Genius, a renewable energy project developer, entered into an <a href="https://mercomcapital.com/green-genius-sells-34-mw-solar-portfolio-in-lithuania/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">agreement</a> to sell a 34 MW solar project portfolio in Lithuania to Nala Renewables, a renewable energy investment and development platform. Nala Renewables additionally signed an agreement with Green Genius to acquire further 45 MW of solar projects in the near term. The acquisitions are expected to raise the total size of the portfolio in Lithuania to 79 MW.
India-based renewable energy company BluPine Energy said it has <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/blupine-energy-secures-%E2%82%B92-39-billion-from-tata-capital" target="_blank" rel="noopener">secured</a> a funding of ₹2.39 billion (~$ 28.54 million) from Tata Capital. The funding will be utilized for a 75 MW solar power project in Chhattisgarh, India. The project is expected to generate close to 117 million units of energy per year and offset more than 107,000 tons of carbon emissions.

Project Finance Brief: JUWI Sells 267 MW Solar Portfolio in Greece

Hellenic Petroleum, through its wholly-owned subsidiary, ELPE Renewables, <a href="https://tinyurl.com/mercomhnlr" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">completed</a> the acquisition of a portfolio of solar PV projects at the final permitting stage in the wider Kozani region, Greece, from JUWI, a renewable energy project developer. When completed, the PV project will be the largest-scale RES initiative project in Greece and one of the biggest PV projects in Europe with a total planned installed capacity of 204 MW.
Altus Power America, an investor, owner, and operator of clean energy projects, has <a href="https://tinyurl.com/mercombtli" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">completed</a> the acquisition of a 4 MW operating solar portfolio comprised of four single-axis tracker projects and one fixed-tilt project. The projects sell renewable energy to Georgia Power. The solar projects generate approximately 6.5 million kWh of electricity annually, enough energy to power 540 homes. The portfolio was acquired from Beltline Energy.
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Phu Yen TTP Joint Stock Company (Phu Yen JSC) <a href="https://tinyurl.com/mercomsbha" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">signed</a> a $186 million loan to develop and operate a 257 MW solar project in Hoa Hoi, Phu Yen Province, Vietnam, through the country’s first certified green loan. Phu Yen JSC is owned by B.Grimm Power Public Company Limited and Truong Thanh Viet Nam Group Joint Stock Company (TTVN). The financing comprises a $27.9 million loan funded by ADB, a $148.8 million syndicated loan (B loan) funded by commercial banks with ADB as lender of record, and a $9.3 million loan from Leading Asia’s Private Infrastructure Fund (LEAP).
Canadian Solar, a vertically integrated manufacturer of silicon ingots, wafers, and PV cells and modules, <a href="https://tinyurl.com/mercomcansr" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">announced</a> financial close for its 126 MW Tastiota project in the state of Sonora, Mexico. The non-recourse financing package, arranged by Canadian Solar, was provided by Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC). SMBC acted as Sole Structuring Bank and Mandated Lead Arranger in the transaction. The financing package consists of a $67 million senior loan, a $15-million letter of credit facility, and a $12 million VAT facility covering the construction and operational phase of the project.
The Arab Petroleum Investments Corporation (APICORP), a multilateral development financial institution, has <a href="https://tinyurl.com/mercomapcr" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">signed</a> an agreement with Shuaa Energy 3 PSC sponsored by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), ACWA Power, and Gulf Investment Corporation, to provide $70.5 million in financing for the fifth phase of development of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park in Dubai, UAE. Part of a larger project finance facility amounting to $420.2 million provided by a number of local, regional, and international banks, the funds will be used in the development, construction, ownership, operation, and maintenance of a $564 million 900 MW state-of-the-art solar project.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is <a href="https://tinyurl.com/mercomebrd" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">investing</a> €75 million (~$88.2 million) in the successful Eurobond tap issuance by Hellenic Petroleum (HELPE), a Greek energy group. The total funds of €100 million (~$117.6 million) raised will enable HELPE to finance the construction of 18 solar PV projects with a total installed capacity of 204 MW in Kozani, Western Macedonia.

Project Finance Brief: Hellenic Petroleum Acquires a 204 MW Solar Portfolio

The <a href="http://www.juwi.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener">juwi Group</a>, a German developer and engineering procurement &amp; construction (EPC) company, has built a 135 MW DC utility-scale solar power project for Energon Soleq Ravi India Power Resources Pvt Ltd in the state of Karnataka.
The project is spread across 243 hectares and is located near the village of Guttigoli in Karnataka’s Belgaum district.
juwi India will also be responsible for the operation and maintenance (O&amp;M) of the solar power project, which is expected to generate more than 226 million kWh of electricity every year. It is estimated that approximately 122,743 tons of carbon dioxide emission will be cut annually with the help of this solar project.
“Utility scale solar PV has become the cost-effective source of energy in many parts of the world. The high-quality construction of the 135 MW solar project emphasizes our striving for operational excellence in EPC,” Stephan Hansen, the COO of juwi said in a media statement.
Currently, juwi India has a total O&amp;M portfolio of 347 MW and is expected to cross 500 MW by the end of this year.
Recently, the company also bagged a 250 MW EPC contract for building three utility-scale PV projects in South Africa. In Australia, juwi has expanded its solar PV project development activities and has entered into utility scale solar projects in Victoria and New South Wales. The company recently launched a request for proposals seeking to acquire large-scale solar projects from developers and landowners in the respective states.
According to the <a href="https://mercomindia.com/product/india-solar-project-tracker/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mercom India Solar Project Tracker</a>, Karnataka has an installed large-scale solar capacity of over 5.1 GW and a development pipeline of ~1.6 GW, making it the leading solar state in the country.
