The project is divided into four parts: Part A: projects up to 10 kW; Part B: projects above 10 kW and up to 50 kW; Part C: projects above 50 kW and up to 100 kW; and Part D: projects above 100 kW.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/seci-%e2%82%b98-2-billion-to-solar-in-january-2023" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has paid out a total of ₹8.2 billion (~$99.4 million) to solar and wind developers for the power purchased in January 2022.</strong></a> This amount represented approximately 83.5% of the total payments made by SECI during the month. Further, the money released toward duties, payments, and reimbursements to solar and wind developers amounted to approximately ₹9.8 billion (~$119 million) in January.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/government-approves-iredas-ipo" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>The Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) has received the cabinet nod for listing on stock exchanges after an Initial Public Offering (IPO) via a part sale of the government’s stake</strong></a> in the company. The approval was granted due to the recent change in capital structure in IREDA following the infusion of ₹15 billion (~$181.75 million) by the government early last year. The Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) will be responsible for the listing process.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/andhra-directs-discom-%e2%82%b92-93-kwh-wind-power-procured" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>The Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission has directed the state distribution company (DISCOM) to pay a tariff of ₹2.93 (~$0.036)/kWh for the power purchased from a 2.3 MW</strong></a> wind power project from the commercial operation date of the project until the date of disconnection. Danu Wind Parks had filed a petition seeking the Commission to direct the DISCOM to pay a tariff of ₹4.76 (~$0.058)/kWh as agreed by the parties in the power purchase agreement (PPA) for the period from the commercial operation date (March 20, 2018) up to the date of disconnection (September 13, 2020).</p>
<p><a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/indian-oil-tender-om-5-mw-solar" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has invited bids for the comprehensive annual rate contract for the operation and maintenance of a 5 MW solar power project at IOC’s Rawra facility in Jodhpur</strong></a>, Rajasthan, for a period of three years. A rate contract involves the supply of goods as well as the provision of labor and services. The contractor will be responsible for all types of preventive, scheduled, and breakdown maintenance with the objective of maximizing electricity generation.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/seg-solar-2-gw-module-manufacturing-facility-texas" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>California-based solar module maker SEG Solar announced the acquisition of a manufacturing facility in Texas with the capacity to produce over 2 GW of solar modules.</strong></a> The company said the facility would have three state-of-the-art production lines allowing SEG to produce both TOPCON (tunnel oxide passivated contact) and high-efficiency n-type photovoltaic (PV) modules with 182 mm or 210 mm solar cells.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/us-announces-750-clean-hydrogen-technologies" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>The U.S. Department of Energy has announced a grant of $750 million for research, development, and demonstration efforts to reduce the cost of clean hydrogen significantly.</strong></a> The funding, which is the first phase of the Biden Administration’s $1.5 billion Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, will aim to speed up the widespread use of clean hydrogen. The initiative aims to achieve the commercial-scale deployment of hydrogen during this decade, which is expected to help aid the country’s goal of achieving a 100% clean electrical grid by 2035 and net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/ballard-q4-net-loss-narrows-to-34-4-million" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>The net loss of fuel cell and clean energy solutions provider Ballard Power Systems narrowed to $34.4 million in the fourth quarter of the financial year 2022 from a net loss of $43.8 million</strong></a> in the same quarter of 2021. Ballard attributed its net loss reduction to higher finance and other income of $27.1 million due to increased investment income of $8.8 million.</p>

Daily News Wrap-Up: Kerala’s 100 MW Solar Empanelment Tender

<p>The Indian Oil Corporation (<a href="https://iocl.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">IOC</a>) has floated a tender for 15 hydrogen polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) fuel cell electric buses to be supplied at its research and development center in Faridabad, Haryana.</p>
<p>The electric buses must be delivered in 144 weeks. IOC did not specify an earnest money deposit (EMD) requirement for the tender. The deadline for bid submission is January 25, 2020.</p>
<p>Successful bidders must supply 15 homologated buses, of which ten must be nine-meter-long buses, and five must be 12 meters long. The buses must be designed keeping the climatic and operational conditions prevalent in the Delhi-National Capital Region. Successful bidders must test the buses in collaboration with the IOC to ensure a mileage of 20,000 km and provide service and maintenance operations.</p>
<p>To be eligible to participate in the competitive bidding process, bidders must have supplied at least two electric buses as a direct sale order or ten buses on a gross contract basis in the country in the last five years. Applicants must have the facility to develop, manufacture, assemble, or fabricate PEM fuel cell stacks and systems in the country.</p>
<p>They are also expected to have met testing and certification requirements under the Central Motor Vehicle Rule, 1989 (CMVR) for at least one electric bus. Prospective bidders must also have had an annual turnover of ₹303.1 million (~$4.14 million) in the last three financial years.</p>
<p>Bidders are also expected to buy back the buses and submit a normalized buy-back cost for one unit at the time of bid submission, IOC said. It added that it would retain at least four buses for captive usage after completing the project.</p>
<p>In November 2020, the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation had invited bids to select a service provider to procure 300 electric buses on a gross cost contract model. The contract included operation and maintenance services.</p>
<p>A little earlier, the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation <a href="https://mercomindia.com/kerala-to-hire-electric-buses/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">invited</a> bids for hiring 50 electric buses on wet lease for the Thiruvananthapuram zone under the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid) Electric Vehicles-II (FAME II) program.</p>
