					</table><p>Solar power <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/51-of-indias-installed-renewable-capacity-was-solar-by-q3-2025" target="_blank" rel="noopener">accounted</a> for 25.1% of India’s total installed power capacity and 51% of the total installed renewable capacity as of September 2025. The solar capacity installed increased by 7.5% quarter-over-quarter and 37.5% year-over-year (YoY). India’s renewable energy capacity, including large hydroelectric projects, made up 49.1% of the country’s cumulative power capacity, with 245.1 GW installed at the end of the third quarter of 2025, according to data from the Central Electricity Authority, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, and Mercom’s India Solar Project Tracker.</p>
<p>FS India Solar, a subsidiary of First Solar, <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/fs-india-wins-secis-260-mwp-solar-module-supply-auction" target="_blank" rel="noopener">won</a> Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI) auction to supply domestically manufactured 260 MWp solar modules to a project location in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh. FS India Solar won the auction at a value of ₹4.7 billion (~$53.5 million). The tender was floated in April 2025. FS India must supply modules within 12 months. The project involves manufacturing, testing, packaging, shipping, supplying, and transporting the modules to the project site. The modules supplied must also use domestically manufactured solar cells.</p>
<p>Almighty Green Energy <a href="https://mercomindia.com/almighty-green-wins-secis-om-auction-for-10-mw-solar-project-in-rajasthan" target="_blank" rel="noopener">won</a> SECI’s auction for the operation and maintenance of its 10 MW ground-mounted solar power project at Badi Sid, Rajasthan. The total award value for the contract stands at ₹41.2 million (~$470,000). The tender was floated this July. The company will be responsible for the complete O&amp;M of the project, which includes ensuring consistent operational performance and maintaining all plant equipment for a period of five years. The scope of work also mandates providing comprehensive insurance coverage for the entire duration of the contract.</p>
<p>Amar Infrastructure won SECI’s auction to <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/amar-infrastructure-bags-bos-package-for-secis-200-mw-solar-project" target="_blank" rel="noopener">supply</a> the balance of system package for a 200 MW solar project in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh. The contract’s value is ₹4.49 billion (~$49.53 million). The tender was issued in May this year. The scope of work covers the design, engineering, procurement, supply of equipment and materials (except solar modules), erection, testing, and commissioning of the solar power project on a turnkey basis. Amar Infrastructure must procure permits and licenses, and insurance, at all stages. It must also provide operation and maintenance for five years.</p>
<p>PFC Consulting <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/pfc-consulting-tenders-intrastate-transmission-project-in-maharashtra" target="_blank" rel="noopener">issued</a> a request for proposal to set up an intrastate transmission system (InSTS) for the air-insulated substation at Kandalgaon in Maharashtra’s Raigad district on a build, own, operate, and transfer basis. Bids must be submitted by January 6, 2026. Bids will be opened on the same day. The scope of work entails the design, engineering, procurement, construction, erection, testing, and commissioning of the InSTS. It also includes providing operation and maintenance services.</p>
<p>Keltron Equipment Complex, a unit of the Kerala State Electronics Development Corporation, <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/keltron-invites-bids-for-1-5-mw-rooftop-solar-project-in-west-bengal" target="_blank" rel="noopener">invited</a> bids to set up a 1.5 MW rooftop solar project at the Kalyani Layer Farm under the West Bengal Livestock Development Corporation. The last date to submit bids is November 15, 2025. Bids will be opened on November 17. The scope of work encompasses the design, engineering, manufacture/procurement, as well as the commissioning of the project on a turnkey basis.</p>
<p>NTPC Green Energy <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/higher-power-generation-pushes-ntpc-green-net-profit-up-135-in-q2" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> a net profit of ₹863.8 million (~$9.7 million) in the second quarter (Q2) of the financial year (FY) 2026, a 135% rise YoY from ₹366.9 million (~$4 million). It reported a total income of ₹6.57 billion (~$74 million), up 25% YoY from ₹5.25 billion (~$59 million). Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) for the quarter stood at ₹5.3 billion (~$59.7 million), a 26% jump from ₹4.2 billion (~$47 million) from the same quarter of the previous year.</p>
<p>Battery manufacturer Amara Raja Energy and Mobility <a href="https://mercomindia.com/amara-rajas-revenue-grows-6-6-in-q2-on-strong-oem-aftermarket-demand" target="_blank" rel="noopener">posted</a> a revenue of ₹34.67 billion (~$390.85 million) in Q2 of FY 2026, a 6.7% YoY increase from ₹32.5 billion (~$366.46 million). The company earned revenues of ₹32.97 billion (~$371.68 million) from its lead-acid battery business, and ₹1.7 billion (~$19.16 million) from its other ventures. Its EBITDA totaled ₹3.74 billion (~$42.2 million), down 13.5% from ₹4.32 billion (~$48.78 million) in Q2 FY 2025. Profit after tax stood at ₹2.76 billion (~$31.17 million), rising 17.4% YoY from ₹2.35 billion (~$26.56 million).</p>
<p>U.S.-based solar and storage solutions company Pine Gate Renewables <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/us-solar-developer-pine-gate-files-for-bankruptcy-plans-to-sell-assets" target="_blank" rel="noopener">filed</a> proceedings under Chapter 11 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas and will pursue plans to sell its assets. The company announced that it is pursuing a strategic and value-maximizing sales process for substantially all of its assets and business operations. “Pine Gate’s operations will continue uninterrupted while the company continues to engage in a competitive sales process with multiple interested parties to transition ownership of its solar and energy storage project fleet while preserving jobs and maximizing value,” it said in a release.</p>
<p>Researchers at Stanford University and the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory have <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/stanford-and-slac-researchers-develop-high-voltage-iron-based-battery-cathode" target="_blank" rel="noopener">developed</a> a high-voltage, iron-based cathode material capable of achieving a reversible iron redox transition beyond the conventional ferric ion, also known as iron (III) (Fe³⁺). It represents a step toward high-voltage, cobalt-free, and nickel-free lithium-ion batteries. The new lithium–iron–antimony oxide compound, identified as Li₄FeSbO₆, exhibits a formal Fe³⁺ to Iron pentacarbonyl (Fe⁵⁺) transition and demonstrates exceptional structural stability and electrochemical performance.</p>
<p>Developed and emerging economies are <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/rising-barriers-and-costs-the-global-tug-of-war-over-cleantech-manufacturing" target="_blank" rel="noopener">expanding</a> clean energy deployment while aiming to enhance domestic manufacturing of key technologies, according to BloombergNEF’s Clean Energy Trade and Emerging Markets report. However, trade barriers are on the rise. Several prominent developing countries are considering or implementing higher import duties on cleantech products. These tariffs are driven by diverse motives: fostering local value creation, attracting foreign investment, diversifying supply chains, and addressing energy security concerns.</p>
<p>The global levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) for renewable energy technologies has continued to <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/solar-achieves-worlds-lowest-lcoe-of-37-mwh-in-mena-wood-mackenzie" target="_blank" rel="noopener">decline</a>, and performance has improved across all major markets, according to Wood Mackenzie. Solar photovoltaic technology with single-axis tracker systems in the Middle East and Africa achieved the lowest regional LCOE of $37/MWh. This is attributed to innovation, supply chain stabilization, and improved module efficiencies.</p>

<p>FS India Solar won the auction at a value of ₹4.7 billion (~$53.5 million).</p>
<p>The tender was <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/seci-invites-bids-for-260-mw-module-supply-for-project-in-madhya-pradesh" target="_blank" rel="noopener">floated</a> in April 2025.</p>
<p>FS India must supply modules within 12 months.</p>
<p>The project involves manufacturing, testing, packaging, shipping, supplying, and transporting the modules to the project site.</p>
<p>The modules supplied must also use domestically manufactured solar cells.</p>
<p>The modules supplied must be of a minimum capacity of 234 MWp and a maximum capacity of 286 MWp. They must have a 25-year warranty.</p>
<p>The modules supplied to SECI must be from manufacturers listed in the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) and must be of monocrystalline (monofacial or bifacial) or thin-film cadmium telluride technology.</p>
<p>The project also includes a 12-month defect liability period commencing from the date of material delivery.</p>
<p>According to the tender document, FS India must provide a 10-year product warranty covering all defects and workmanship. It must also purchase an insurance policy valid for 25 years, which covers at least 6% of the total costs.</p>
<p>FS India’s solar cells are included in ALMM.</p>
<p>In May 2025, SECI <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/seci-tenders-bos-package-for-200-mw-solar-project-in-madhya-pradesh" target="_blank" rel="noopener">invited</a> bids for a balance of system package for a 200 MW solar power project in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh.</p>
<p>Recently, First Solar, the parent company of FS India Solar, <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/first-solar-plans-new-3-7-gw-module-plant-revenue-up-in-q3" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> plans for a fifth module manufacturing facility with a planned capacity of 3.7 GW in the U.S.</p>
<p>Giving a boost to domestic manufacturing of solar modules, MNRE <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/solar-module-capacity-under-almm-grows-by-6-9-gw-in-october-2025" target="_blank" rel="noopener">added</a> 6.9 GW of capacity under ALMM for solar modules, bringing the total capacity to 6,922 MW.</p>
