<a href="https://www.econergytech.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Econergy Renewable Energy</a>, a European independent power producer, reached financial close on the 40 MW/120 MWh Dalmarnock battery energy storage project located in Scotland. The company secured £21 million (~$29 million) of project finance from Santander UK.
The Dalmarnock project is supported by a long-term optimization partnership with EDF, a provider of battery optimization services, which guarantees a minimum income level while allowing Econergy to retain full upside exposure above the floor.
This financing paves the way for the commercialization of the company’s pipeline in the U.K., which currently includes 17 projects totaling nearly 3 GW. Econergy develops solar, wind, and energy storage projects across various European markets, including Germany, Italy, Spain, Romania, Poland, Greece, and the U.K. The company has a project pipeline of over 14 GW.

Previously, in 2025, the company <a href="https://cms.mercomindia.com/econergy-secures-47-million-for-87-mw-oradea-solar-project/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">closed</a> a €40.5 million (~$47 million) project finance agreement with UniCredit Bank for its 87 MW Oradea solar project in the Crișana region in north-west Romania. In addition, Econergy also <a href="https://cms.mercomindia.com/econergy-secures-68-million-for-64-mw-solar-projects/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">secured</a> approximately €58 million (~$68 million) in financing to support a portfolio of solar projects totaling 64.3 MW in Italy.
Large-scale project funding increased by 73% in 2025 compared with the funding raised in 2024, according to Mercom’s recently released Annual and Q4 2025 Energy Storage Funding and M&amp;A <a href="https://cms.mercomindia.com/product/annual-and-q4-2025-solar-funding-and-ma-report/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a>. Deal activity also rose sharply, with a 71% increase YoY.
This Month, 360 Energy, a renewable energy project developer, <a href="https://cms.mercomindia.com/energy-developer-360-energy-74-million-project-financing/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">secured</a> approximately €63 million (~$74 million) in project financing for its Verila Solar Park 2. Raiffeisen Bank International and UniCredit Bulbank provided the funding.

Earthrise Energy, an independent renewable energy power producer, <a href="https://mercomcapital.com/earthrise-energy-secures-360-m-financing-solar-project-portfolio/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> the closing of a $360 million financing package to support the continued development of the company’s co-located solar project portfolio. The facility will also refinance its existing thermal portfolio debt. The co-located solar project portfolio is expected to add over 1.7 GW of renewable electricity to the grid through projects.

MOL, an integrated Central-Eastern European oil and gas company headquartered in Hungary, <a href="https://mercomcapital.com/mol-acquires-304-mw-solar-project-portfolio/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">entered</a> into a sale and purchase agreement to acquire Polsolar Kft, holding a portfolio of solar projects with a total capacity of 304 MW in Hungary. The portfolio, located near Mezőcsát in Eastern Hungary, comprises five fully operational solar projects. These projects operate under the KÁT feed-in tariff system in Hungary, with KÁT licenses in place until 2048.
WBS Power, a renewable energy project developer, <a href="https://mercomcapital.com/wbs-power-sells-150-mw-solar-and-500-mw-bess-project/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> the sale of Project Jupiter, which includes a 500 MW/2,000 MWh battery energy storage system and up to 150 MW of solar capacity, located on a former airfield in Brandenburg, Germany. Prime Capital, acting on behalf of its Prime Green Energy Infrastructure Fund II, acquired the project.
Capital Dynamics, a private asset management firm, <a href="https://mercomcapital.com/capital-dynamics-acquires-121-mw-solar-project-portfolio/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">acquired</a> a portfolio of two solar projects totaling an installed capacity of at least 121 MW in the UK from BayWa r.e. and Grune Energien. The portfolio comprises the 77 MWp Clump farm located in Leicestershire and the 44 MWp Yanel Solar farm situated in North Somerset. The projects are scheduled to commence construction in 2026.

Located in the Netherlands, the portfolio consists of the projects Woudbloem, Veenweg Ter Apel 2, Amerongerwetering, and Magdalenahoeve, with a total capacity of 108 MWp. The acquisition is expected to strengthen Novar’s position in large-scale solar development and smart energy integration in the Netherlands.
Saxovent Renewables, a developer of solar, wind, and energy storage projects, <a href="https://mercomcapital.com/saxovent-renewables-acquires-81-8-mw-solar-project/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">acquired</a> an 81.8 MWp solar project in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany, from Milvio Energy, a Hamburg-based renewable energy project developer. The construction-ready ground-mounted project is located south of Rostock. It has an existing EEG subsidy for 20 MWp and additional potential for integrating a battery energy storage system.

According to the company&#8217;s strategy to hybridize its Romanian solar portfolio, it plans to add a 68 MW battery energy storage system component to the Oradea solar project site.
The expected investment for the storage component is approximately €21 million (~$24.38 million), with an estimated annual revenue contribution of €8.4 million (~$9.7 million) and an EBITDA contribution of €6.7 million (~$7.77 million).
This transaction marks the second project financing agreement with UniCredit.
The company previously <a href="https://cms.mercomindia.com/econergy-secures-68-million-for-64-mw-solar-projects/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">secured</a> approximately €58 million (~$68 million) in financing to support a portfolio of 64.3 MW of solar projects in Italy in September 2025. The portfolio comprises 12 solar projects. Eco Holdco 1, wholly owned by EcoGreenDev (Lux) and jointly held by Econergy International and INFRAGREEN, signed a project finance agreement with UniCredit, which acted as global coordinator &amp; bookrunner and as the structuring mandated lead arranger.
In December 2024, Econergy <a href="https://cms.mercomindia.com/econergy-secures-40-million-financing-for-92-mw-solar-project-in-romania/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> the signing of a project financing agreement valued at approximately €38 million (~$39.61 million) with Raiffeisen Bank International AG, a European financial institution.
According to Mercom&#8217;s 9M and Q3 2025 Solar Funding and M&amp;A <a href="https://cms.mercomindia.com/product/9m-q3-2025-solar-funding-ma-report/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a>, large-scale project funding increased by 43% in the first nine months of 2025 compared with the same period in 2024.
