					</table>Cochin Shipyard (<a href="https://cochinshipyard.in/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CSL</a>) has invited bids to set up a battery energy storage system (BESS) at its premises in Kochi, Kerala.
The last date to submit bids is October 13, 2026. Bids will be opened the following day.
The project comprises design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of a 10 MW/20 MWh grid-connected BESS. It aims to store surplus energy during solar hours and use it during non-solar hours.
Bidders must furnish an earnest money deposit of ₹3.25 million (~$34,060.6). Successful bidders must submit a security deposit equivalent to 5% of the contract value and a performance bank guarantee of at least 5% of the contract value.
The estimated project cost is ₹342.9 million (~$3.59 million).
The project must be completed within 300 days.
The project will be implemented on a turnkey basis and also includes transportation, unloading, storage, and civil works.
The BESS may be designed in four 5.05 MWh/2.5 MW BESS units and four 2.5 MVA power conditioning systems. The energy management system must be designed for the total proposed capacity of 30 MWh.
The project also includes retrofitting two 11 kV high-tension vacuum circuit breakers with the BESS system. It must be designed for interconnection with CSL&#8217;s existing system at the 11 kV bus.
The BESS must have a round-trip efficiency of at least 80% at commissioning and a battery cell discharge efficiency of at least 96%.
The batteries must use lithium iron phosphate chemistry with liquid cooling. They must support 0.75C discharge peaks for 15 minutes. The permissible depth of discharge must be between 95% and 100%.
The battery life must be at least 15 years from commissioning or 8,000 cycles, whichever is earlier. Annual usage is capped at 550 cycles. The BESS must achieve a round-trip energy efficiency of at least 80% at commissioning.
The PCS must have a minimum continuous power delivery capacity of 2.5 MW and a maximum efficiency of over 98%. It must support grid-connected and standalone operation, grid-forming functionality, black start, and active and reactive power control.
Upon loss of utility supply, the BESS must automatically transition to islanded or backup operation and restore designated loads within five seconds. The PCS must also be capable of transitioning from grid-following to grid-forming mode within 200 milliseconds.
Selected bidders must provide maintenance support for 15 years, comprising a two-year performance guarantee period followed by a 13-year annual maintenance contract. They must maintain annual BESS equipment availability of at least 99%.
Bidders must be BESS original equipment manufacturers or system integrators with experience in supplying, installing, testing, and commissioning grid-interactive BESS projects with a cumulative installed capacity of at least 16 MWh. At least one project must have been installed in India.
At least one grid-interactive BESS project must have a minimum capacity of 5 MWh at a single location and must have been operating successfully for at least six months.
Bidders must also have experience integrating a BESS with an existing electrical system rated at least 3.3 kV.
Bidders must have a minimum annual turnover of at least ₹150 million (~$1.7 million) in the last three fiscal years. They must also have had a positive net worth during each of the last three financial years.

The last date to submit bids is August 31, 2026. Bids will be opened on the following day.
Bidders must submit an earnest money deposit of ₹100,000 (~$1,048). Successful bidders must submit a security deposit equivalent to 5% of the contract value.
The estimated project cost is ₹43.73 million (~$458,360).
The project will be executed on a turnkey basis across the rooftops of various workshops within the shipyard. The project will entail a 400-kW rooftop solar project at the SSD Preparation Bay, 250 kW at the SSD Pipe Shop, and 350 kW at the Sheet Metal Shop and Pipe Shop (Hull Shop).
The scope of work includes site survey, engineering, procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning of the project.
It entails comprehensive maintenance of the project for five years.
The project must use N-type half-cut TOPCon photovoltaic modules with a minimum capacity of 590 Wp. The modules must comply with the requirements of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s Approved List of Models and Manufacturers.
The project must be completed within 270 days.
Bidders must have completed at least one 800 kW rooftop solar project, two projects of 500 kW each, or three projects of 400 kW each during the last seven years. At least one of the projects must have included metallic roofing.
Bidders must also have an average annual turnover of ₹24 million (~$251,579) during the last three consecutive financial years.
Successful bidders must provide a comprehensive 5-year warranty covering the entire solar power plant, while the modules must carry a 25-year performance warranty.
Last year, the Cochin Port Trust <a href="https://mercomindia.com/cochin-port-trust-floats-tender-for-1-5-mw-floating-solar-project" target="_blank" rel="noopener">invited</a> bids to set up a 1.5 MW grid-connected floating solar power project at Willingdon Island, Cochin Port Authority, under the renewable energy service company model.
Earlier in June this year, the Fertilizers and Chemicals Travancore <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/fertilizers-and-chemicals-travancore-tenders-6-mw-floating-solar-project" target="_blank" rel="noopener">invited</a> bids to set up a 6 MW grid-connected floating solar project at Ambalamedu Lake in the Ernakulam district, Kerala. The project will be developed under a build-own-operate-and-transfer model.

Cochin Shipyard Invites Bids for 1 MW Rooftop Solar Project

Over the past week, three small tenders of totaling 620 kW were issued by various public sector undertakings (PSU) of the government across different regions in India.
Following are the details of the three solar tenders:
Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited &#8211; 300 kW Tender
<a href="http://www.grse.in/index.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers</a>, a Government of India undertaking under the defence ministry, has issued a tender for the supply of a 300 kW solar system in Kolkata.
Bidders are expected to furnish an earnest money deposit of ₹270,000 ($3,911) as the bid security.
A pre-bid meeting for tender is going to be held on July 8, 2019.
Cochin Shipyard &#8211; 200 kW Tender 
<a href="https://cochinshipyard.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Cochin Shipyard</a>, government-owned shipbuilding, and repair yard has issued a tender for the development of 200 kW of rooftop solar projects on an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) basis. The scope of work includes the site study, design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of 200 kW of grid-connected solar projects on rooftops of various buildings at Cochin Shipyard in Kerala.
The projects are to be developed across five buildings and will range between 30 kW and 60 kW. The contractor will also be required to provide five years of comprehensive warranty for the 200 kW project. The project is to be completed within 127 days from the receipt of the work order.
Interested bidders need to furnish an earnest money deposit of ₹212,000 ($3,071) as the bid security. The last date for the submission of bids is July 27, 2019.
Central Electronics Limited &#8211; 120 kW Tender 
<a href="http://www.celindia.co.in/drupal7/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Central Electronics Limited</a>, a government engineering enterprise has also issued a tender for the development of 120 kW of rooftop solar capacity at the Indian National Science Academy in New Delhi under the RESCO model. Bidders are expected to bid for the total capacity of the project which will be allocated based on the lowest tariff for 25 years. The projects will also be eligible to avail incentives on the capital cost incurred for the development of the projects and will be allotted six months to execute the project.
To participate, the bidders need to furnish an earnest money deposit of ₹144,000 ($2,086) as the bid security. The last date for submission of bids is July 12, 2019.
Over the years, Mercom has reiterated how an increasing pace of rooftop installations in the country can drive the growth of the solar sector and propel the country’s sustainability agenda. The need of the hour is <a href="https://mercomindia.com/serious-policy-push-indias-rooftop-solar-market/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">streamlined policies</a> and their effective implementation.
Cumulative rooftop solar <a href="https://mercomindia.com/india-solar-pv-q1-2019-rooftop-installations/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">installations</a> in India totaled 3.2 GW at the end of December 2018, and nearly 1.6 GW of capacity was installed throughout the year. The top 10 rooftop solar installers in India accounted for approximately 30% of the <a href="https://mercomindia.com/india-rooftop-solar-installers-2018/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">capacity installed</a> in 2018 in an extremely fragmented market that is largely made up of small and local installers.
