Suzlon Energy and Integrum Energy have won Bharat Petroleum Corporation’s (BPCL) tender to set up 100 MW wind power projects in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.
Both companies secured 50 MW each.
The tender was floated in December 2023.
The successful bidders must complete the projects within two years.
The wind projects will cater to the captive power requirements of BPCL’s Mumbai Refinery and Bina Refinery in Madhya Pradesh, substituting conventional fossil-based energy sources with renewable wind energy.
Suzlon and Integrum will set up the wind farms on a lump-sum turnkey basis.
They must use wind generators from the latest Revised List of Models and Manufacturers. The generators must also have a minimum rating of at least 2,000 kW.
Suzlon and Integrum will also provide comprehensive operation and maintenance services for up to 10 years.
BPCL aims to achieve a renewable energy portfolio of 10 GW by 2040. It has so far installed 31.6 MW of solar capacity, 11.8 MW of wind capacity, and 18 MW of energy-efficient lighting capacity across its network.
In December 2024, BPCL was among the winners for NTPC’s auction to set up 1,200 MW interstate transmission system-connected solar power projects. BPCL won 150 MW at a tariff of ₹2.55 (~$0.0300)/kWh.
Earlier, BPCL announced joint ventures with Sembcorp Green Hydrogen India (SGHI) and Bengaluru-based GPS Renewables to develop green hydrogen and compressed biogas (CBG) projects, respectively.
In June 2024, BPCL invited bids for the design, engineering, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of a ground-mounted 52 MW solar power project at Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh.
In 2024, Ahasolar Technologies awarded the consultancy contract for setting up a 52 MW solar power project at Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, to BPCL. The company quoted ₹5.1 million (~$61,168) to win the ten-month contract.
