Southern Railway Invites Bids for 1 MW Rooftop Solar Projects at Rameswaram

Southern Railway has invited bids for installing rooftop solar systems with a cumulative capacity of 1 MW at various locations of Rameswaram station under the Madurai Division, Tamil Nadu.

The rooftop solar systems will have a minimum capacity of 10 kW.

Bids must be submitted by January 6, 2026. The bids will be opened on the same day.

Bidders must furnish an earnest money deposit of ₹1.06 million (~$11,886) and a tender document fee of ₹34,810 (~$390).

The tender has specified an expected aggregate generation of 28.13 million kWh over the project billing period. The installation and commissioning must be completed within 240 days, followed by a 25-year operation and maintenance period during the term of the power purchase agreement.

The scope of work includes the designing, building, financing, and operation of the project through the renewable energy service company model. Successful bidders will be responsible for conducting detailed site surveys, supplying modules and associated electrical components, mounting structures, evacuation systems, metering arrangements, remote monitoring, and safety systems.

Bidders must have installed a minimum of 200 kW of rooftop solar capacity in developer or EPC mode, or 1000 kW of aggregate rooftop or ground-mounted solar commissioning experience.

Bidders must have a minimum average annual turnover of ₹15 million (~$168,150) for the last three financial years and a positive net worth over the same period.

Recently, South Eastern Railway invited bids for 1.37 MW of grid-connected rooftop solar power systems under the Santragachi Division, Howrah, West Bengal. The project covers installations across residential buildings, service buildings, railway stations, and level crossing gates.

In October this year, the Ministry of Railways invited bids to set up 1.235 MW of rooftop solar projects at the A, B, and suburban railway stations in Andhra Pradesh’s Guntakal division.
