SECI Floats Tender for Five 160 MVA Power Transformers for Solar Park

The Solar Energy Corporation of India has invited bids for the manufacture and commissioning of five 160 MVA, 220/33-33 kV power transformers at the Radhanesda Ultra Mega Solar Park in Gujarat.
The last date to submit bids is January 23, 2026. Bids will be opened on the same day.
Bidders must furnish an earnest money deposit of ₹15 million (~$166,565) and a contract performance security amounting to 10% of the contract value.
They must also submit a tender processing fee of ₹25,000 (~$277.6).
The scope of work covers the engineering, design, manufacturing, testing, installation, and commissioning of the transformers.
Successful bidders must also provide insurance for the transformers.
The project must be completed within 16 months.
Bidders must be original equipment manufacturers engaged in the designing, manufacturing, and testing of transformers in accordance with Indian Standards/International Electrotechnical Commission standards.
They must also have their own transformer manufacturing facility in India for producing power transformers of at least 220 kV and must have been operational for at least seven years.
Bidders must have supplied power transformers of at least 220 kV class anywhere in India in the last three years. They must furnish a performance certificate showcasing that power transformers have been satisfactorily operational for at least two years.
They must have an annual transformer manufacturing capacity of at least five times the bid quantity, ie, 4,000 MVA.
Bidders must have an established facility for servicing, repairing, testing, and refurbishing power transformers in India, equipped with the necessary spares and testing equipment to ensure prompt after-sales service.
They must be class I local suppliers and possess a valid ISO 9001:2015 certification.
They must have a minimum annual turnover of ₹230 million (~$2.5 million) in the last three financial years and a positive net worth in the last financial year.
The minimum working capital of the bidders must be ₹143.8 million (~$1.59 million). If working capital is inadequate, they must supplement it with a letter from the bidder’s bank having a net worth of ₹5 billion (~$55.5 million), demonstrating the availability of a line of credit of at least ₹143.8 million (~$1.59 million).
In 2025, India’s power transmission sector faced supply chain shortages and higher procurement costs amid high demand for transformers and other critical transmission components.
In addition to transformer shortages, transmission utilities reported 17 cases of power transformer failures between January and June of 2025.
