State Bank of India (SBI) has invited bids to select consultants to measure the carbon footprint in the bank’s lending portfolio and provide comprehensive solutions in the areas of climate risk and sustainable finance.

The last date for the submission of bids is October 15, 2023. Bids will be opened on October 20.

Bidders must submit an earnest money deposit (EMD) of ₹100,000 (~$1,209). The EMD should be valid up to 180 days from the bid submission date.

The successful bidder must submit a performance bank guarantee (PBG) amounting to 3% of the total contract price.

Bidders must be Indian companies and established in the country for a minimum of five years.

They should have an average annual turnover of at least ₹5 billion (~$60.5 million) over the last three financial years (FY 2020-2023) from their primary consultancy operations within India, excluding tax and IT consulting.

They should have been profitable organizations based on pre-tax profits (PBT) for at least two out of the last three financial years.

Bidders should possess relevant experience in quantifying carbon emissions within a bank’s lending portfolio. Bidders with experience in measuring the carbon footprint within lending portfolios of Indian or Asian banks would be preferred.

They should also have relevant experience in executing consultancy projects related to managing climate risks, developing strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, or creating plans for government organizations or public sector units.

Last November, SBI invited bids for consultancy services for a 2 MW grid-connected solar project in Mahindra World City in Jaipur.

SBI recently signed an agreement with Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau to receive a low-interest loan of €150 million (~$154.1 million) to finance solar projects in India. The loan will primarily fund innovative technologies, such as automated dry cleaning of solar modules to reduce water consumption.
