Power Grid Corporation of India (POWERGRID) has floated two tenders for setting up ±800 kV high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission line packages to evacuate 6 GW of solar power from the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Zone Phase-IV.
The last day to submit the bids for both tenders is April 17, 2026. Bids will be opened on the same day.
The transmission projects must be completed within 38 months.
Tender 1
This tender is for a pre-bid tie-up for the transmission line package involving a ±800 kV HVDC bipole line (Hexa Lapwing) between the Barmer-II HVDC terminal in Rajasthan and the South Kalamb HVDC terminal in Maharashtra, as part of the transmission system to evacuate 6 GW of solar power from the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Zone Phase-IV (Barmer Complex).
Bidder must have, as a prime contractor, completed one transmission line project of at least 100 km of 345 kV D/C or higher voltage class within the last seven years, involving tower foundation, erection and stringing, supply of towers and tower parts, and supply of line material such as conductor, insulator, or hardware fittings.
They must have a positive net worth over the last three financial years, and a minimum average annual turnover of ₹2.54 billion (~$27.46 million).
Bidders must also have access to liquid assets or credit facilities of at least ₹424.7 million (~$4.58 million).
Startups and MSEs are eligible for relaxation if they meet the positive net worth requirement and 80% of the turnover and liquidity thresholds.
Tender 2
This tender is for a transmission line package, which includes LILO of both circuits of the 400 kV Fatehgarh-IV–Barmer-I line at Barmer-II, a 400 kV Barmer-II–Barmer-I double-circuit (quad) line, and a ±800 kV HVDC bipole line (Part I) between Barmer-II and South Kalamb, to facilitate the evacuation of 6 GW of solar power from the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Zone Phase-IV.
Bidders must have, as a prime contractor, completed one transmission line project of at least 100 km of 345 kV D/C or higher voltage class within the last seven years, covering tower foundation, erection and stringing, supply of towers and tower parts, and supply of line material such as conductor, insulator, or hardware fittings.
They must have a positive net worth over the last three financial years, and a minimum average annual turnover of ₹2.17 billion (~$23.42 million).
Bidders must also have access to liquid assets or credit facilities of at least ₹363.2 million (~$3.92 million)
Startups and MSEs are eligible for relaxation if they meet the positive net worth requirement and 80% of the turnover and liquidity thresholds.
Recently, POWERGRID invited bids for a pre-bid tie-up to set up a ±800 kV HVDC transmission line package connecting the Barmer-II HVDC terminal in Rajasthan and the South Kalamb HVDC terminal in Maharashtra to evacuate 6 GW of solar power from the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Zone Phase-IV.
Earlier, POWERGRID invited bids for a transmission line package between Barmer-II and South Kalamb (Part-V) associated with the transmission system for the evacuation of power from Rajasthan Renewable Energy Zone Ph-IV (6 GW) and the Barmer complex (6 GW solar).
