The National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) tendered 250 MW of wind to be developed across the states of Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Madhya Pradesh in India. The bid-submission deadline is August 4, 2017.

The capacity tendered comprises five projects of 50 MW each.

After the first 1,000 MW of wind was tendered by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), the wind tariff has gone down and implementing agencies want to take advantage of this situation. Many more wind tenders are expected this year.

Mercom has reported two other wind tenders in the month of June 2017.

SECI tendered 1,000 MW of Interstate Transmission System (ISTS)-connected wind power projects under Tranche-II. Recently, the Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) has also tendered 500 MW of wind.
