The National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has commissioned projects aggregating 45 MW at the Bhadla Solar Power Project being developed in Rajasthan. The NTPC, announced the commissioning of another 45 MW out of the 260 MW solar project being developed at Bhadla.

In February, NTPC had commissioned 115 MW of solar out of the 260 MW project. Now, the commissioned capacity stands at 160 MW. The entire capacity of 260 MW had been divided into four projects of 65 MW each, to date, no single project has been completely commissioned, stated a NTPC official. The entire 260 MW is expected to be commissioned by the end of April 2017, added the NTPC official.

Previously a NTPC official had told Mercom, “Each developer can break down their project capacities into blocks of 5 MW for commissioning purposes.” The project is being developed under NTPC’s self-owned projects program and Vikram Solar, Tata Power and Jakson Engineers are developing the Bhadla Solar Project for NTPC.

According to Mercom’s India Solar Project Tracker, NTPC has a portfolio of 520 MW commissioned solar projects, with 350 MW further expected to be commissioned by end of March 2017 as confirmed by Mercom. Also, NTPC has a huge pipeline of 1.8 GW of solar projects which have been tendered and are yet to be auctioned.
