NTPC has invited expressions of interest from bidders to set up a 50 MW interstate transmission system-connected concentrated solar power project with a thermal energy storage system operational for eight hours during peak and non-solar hours on a build-own-operate basis.

The bids are open to Indian and global companies or their consortium, affiliates, and representatives.

The last day to submit the bids is May 9, 2024. Bids will be opened on May 14.

Bidders must supply 50 MW of renewable energy power, keeping the annual availability at a minimum of 70% during eight hours of peak demand and non-solar hours of contracted capacity in MW.

The energy storage should be discharged to cater to power requirements either during two power blocks at full capacity or at partial load distributed in entire non-solar hours.

Only concentrated solar power should charge the thermal energy storage system.

Bidders must identify and develop suitable land, obtain all necessary statutory and environmental clearances, and ensure the projects are connected to the grid.

They must also develop essential infrastructure, such as roads and electrical systems, and manage all operations related to raw material procurement, product shipment, and sourcing external services.

Additionally, bidders will be responsible for the operation and maintenance, ensuring compliance with environmental standards and efficient project execution from start to finish.

Earlier, Engineers India invited bids from suppliers of concentrated solar technology systems to provide a balance of project services.

NTPC Renewable Energy recently invited bids for the land and power evacuation package to set up a 150 MW grid-connected solar photovoltaic power project in Bhadla, Rajasthan.

NTPC also invited bids for retrofitting a solar inverter for the 5 MW solar photovoltaic power project at its Dadri thermal power plant in Uttar Pradesh.
