The Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) has tendered two solar projects of 10 MW each with 28 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in South Andaman. The bid submission deadline is June 27, 2017.

One 10 MW project will be developed at Attam Pahad and the other 10 MW project will be developed at Dolly Gunj. The scope of work includes, design, engineering, manufacture, inspection at supplier’s works, supply, insurance, transport, storage, erection, testing and commissioning of the projects. The successful bidder will have to provide operation and maintenance services for a 25-year period.

The NLC requires that the developer will provide for grid interconnection of the projects. The project completion timeframe is 18 months from the date of letter of award.

This is the first instance of NLC tendering solar projects with BESS. In December 2016, NLC had tendered 250 MW of solar in Odisha and 500 MW in Tamil Nadu. In March 2017, the company had also invited an expression of interest to develop a 5 MW floating solar project in North Andaman.
