NHPC Awards a 50 MW Solar Project To Larsen & Toubro

The National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) has signed an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract with Larsen & Toubro to develop a 50 MW grid-connected solar project in the Theni and Dindigul districts in Tamil Nadu.
The estimated project cost is Rs.2.87 billion (~$44.5 million) and the project completion timeframe is nine months. The EPC contractor will provide operation and maintenance services for a 10-year period.
In October 2016, Mercom reported, the NHPC issuing a notice inviting tenders to develop a 50 MW project in Tamil Nadu. According to Mercom’s India Solar Project Tracker, to date, NHPC has a solar portfolio comprising 150 MW under-construction projects.
