The new Indian Minister for Power, Mr. R. K. Singh, has called a meeting with major developers in the solar energy sector. This is the first such meeting he will chair since taking over from Mr. Piyush Goyal in September.

The meeting will be held on October 3, 2017, and all major solar project developers, officials from nodal agencies, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) officials, and officials from various states are expected to be in attendance.

The meeting will be held at the MNRE conference hall at MNRE premises in Delhi.

An individual who will be attending the meeting said, “recently, the new Power Minister had mandated that 20 GW of solar be tendered. Maybe he wants to discuss how to achieve this target and explain what the government can do to help.”

This is the first opportunity for the solar developers to interact with the New Minister and understand his priorities, vision and goals for the sector. This is a great opportunity for developers to voice their concerns and make sure the Minister clearly understands the realities on the ground.
