Algerian state-owned electricity and gas utility Sonelgaz floated a tender to develop two wind projects totaling 200 MW. The tender covers two 100 MW wind farms, with one planned in Laghouat province in central Algeria and the other in Djelfa province in northern Algeria. The scope includes studies and engineering, civil works, equipment supply and transportation, installation, training, testing, and commissioning of the projects.

Tunisia’s state-owned utility, the Tunisian Company of Electricity and Gas (STEG), invited bids to develop a solar project with battery energy storage in the southern Tataouine Governorate. The project includes a 50 MW solar power plant and a 10 MW/20 MWh battery energy storage system, along with the associated infrastructure required to connect the facility to the high-voltage transmission network. Its scope integrates solar generation, battery storage, and grid-connection infrastructure to enable coordinated delivery of electricity to Tunisia’s national grid. STEG plans to use some loan or grant funds administered by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to cover contract costs.

The energy storage business unit of Rosatom’s Fuel Division signed an agreement with Egyptian technology company Telecom and Technology to establish battery energy storage assembly facilities in Egypt. Under the agreement, the companies will also collaborate on workforce training and progressively scale up manufacturing. The proposed facilities are expected to have an annual production capacity of up to 500 MWh. The partnership aims to support the deployment of energy storage solutions across several sectors in Egypt, including power, telecommunications, data centers, oil and gas, and other industrial applications.

Doral Group Renewable Energy Resources is expanding its Hadarey Shean solar project in Israel’s Valley of Springs, near Beit She’an, with an estimated investment of NIS800 million (~$260.89 million). The new phase is planned to include 150 MW of solar generation capacity along with 800 MWh of energy storage. The expansion follows the recent completion of the regulatory framework governing large-scale projects of this type.
