Mahanadi Coalfields Floats EPC Tender for 25 MW Solar Projects

Mahanadi Coalfields, a subsidiary of Coal India, has invited bids for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of 25 MW of ground-mounted solar power projects at Rampur Colliery and Samaleswari Opencast Project in Odisha.

The estimated work cost is ₹1.44 billion (~$17.11 million).

Bids must be submitted by May 19, 2025. Bids will be opened on May 21.

Bidders must submit an earnest money deposit of ₹5 million (~$59,411).

Selected bidders must furnish 5% of the contract value as a performance bank guarantee within 21 days of the issue of the letter of award.

They must complete the project within 730 days of receiving the work order. They must also provide ten years of comprehensive operation and maintenance services.

The projects must have a minimum of 40% DC overload capacity.

The projects’ modules must be listed in the Approved Models and Manufacturers of Solar Photovoltaic Modules (Requirements for Compulsory Registration) Order, 2025.

Bidders must have completed three similar works, each costing at least 20% of the estimated work cost, two similar works, each costing at least 25% of the estimated work cost, or one similar work costing at least 40% of the estimated work cost in the last ten years.

Bidders’ average annual financial turnover during the last three years must be at least 30% of the estimated work cost. They must have a minimum net worth of 10% of the estimated work cost in the last financial year.

In October last year, Mahanadi Coalfields invited bids for the design, engineering, supply, erection, testing, commissioning, metering, insurance, and quality control of an aggregated capacity of 1.5 MW grid-connected rooftop solar systems.

In the same month, Central Mine Planning and Design Institute, a subsidiary of Coal India, invited bids to commission a 5 MW grid-connected floating solar project for Eastern Coalfields at the quarry sump of Dalmia Opencast Project Salanpur Area in West Bengal.
