The Maharashtra State Power Generation Company (MAHAGENCO) has issued a tender to set up two grid-connected solar power projects totaling 50 MW capacity using crystalline silicon technology to help the DISCOM meet its renewable purchase obligation targets.

The projects of 25 MW each will be established in the villages of Malkhed and Mangladevi in the Yavatmal district. The successful bidders will be responsible for the design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning and the associated power evacuation infrastructure along with operating and maintaining the plants for five years after commissioning.

The last date for submitting bids is April 26, 2024. Bids will be opened the same day.

The first project is situated in Malkhed, covering an area of 47.26 hectares. The second project is in Mangladevi, covering 50.75 hectares. They are to be connected to the 220/33 kV Naer (Renukapur) substation.

Interested bidders must pay a tender fee of ₹11,800 (~$142) and submit separate earnest money deposits of ₹2.5 million (~$30,167) for each 25 MW project they wish to bid for.

Bidders should have developed solar projects with a cumulative capacity of at least 15 MW, including one project of a minimum of 10 MW commissioned at least six months prior to the bid submission date. The net worth requirement is ₹2.5 million (~$30,167) per MW of quoted capacity as of the last financial year.

The average annual turnover in the last three financial years should be ₹625 million (~$7.5 million) for a 25 MW project from engineering, procurement and construction (EPC)/development of infrastructure or solar projects. These criteria can also be met through the technical and financial capabilities of the bidder’s parent/ultimate parent company.

Developers can form joint ventures of up to three members to meet the qualifications.

Recently, the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company invited bids to procure 1 GW of grid-connected solar power to meet its renewable purchase obligation and future power needs.
