Konkan Railway Invites Bids for a 5 MW Solar Project in Karnataka

The Konkan Railway Corporation (KRCL) has invited bids for the supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of a 5 MW solar power project at Murdeshwar in Karnataka.

The power produced by the project will be supplied to the Murdeshwar substation at 25 kV, single-phase, 50Hz, along with the required protection system.

The scope of work includes the design, engineering, procurement, civil and structural works, installation, and commissioning of the solar project, as well as operation and maintenance for 25 years.

The project will be developed through a public-private partnership under a design, build, finance, operate, and transfer basis.

The last date to submit bids is May 28, 2026. Bids will be opened on the same day.

Bidders must submit ₹1.65 million (~$17,326) as an earnest money deposit.

The project must be completed within 180 days.

KRCL has set a ceiling tariff of ₹3.10 (~$0.0326)/kWh for the tender.

The average turnover of bidders during the last three financial years should be at least ₹300 million (~$3.15 million).

Bidders must have successfully completed on-grid or off-grid solar power projects with a minimum cumulative capacity of 1 MW during the last seven years.

Joint ventures are allowed for this tender, and the number of members in a joint venture has been capped at three.

The tender complies with the public procurement policy (Make in India) order 2017, issued by the Department of Industrial Promotion and Policy, Ministry of Commerce.

Recently, East Central Railway invited bids to install 1.114 MW of rooftop solar systems at Amrit Bharat station (533 kW) and at various locations (581 kW) under Sonpur Division in Bihar.

Last month, the Ministry of Railways issued a tender to set up 1,445 kW of grid-connected rooftop solar projects at railway stations in the Guntakal Division of South-Central Railway in Andhra Pradesh.

Earlier, the Nagpur division of Central Railway invited bids to set up a 1.3 MW rooftop solar project on buildings and residential quarters at the Wardha and Ajni stations in Maharashtra.
