Electric vehicles (EVs) have the potential to significantly cut greenhouse emissions and reduce air pollution by replacing traditional fossil fuel-powered internal combustion vehicles.

For the energy transition to be successful and sustainable, it is important that EVs source power from renewable energy sources rather than from conventional sources.

Against this backdrop, EVs are seen as contributing significantly to future renewable power demand in India.

The current and future trends in EV adoption will be one of the topics industry insiders will discuss at the ‘Mercom India Renewables Summit 2023,’ an exclusive event on April 26-27 in New Delhi.

At a session titled ‘Electric Vehicles – The Next Big Source of Renewable Power Demand‘ scheduled for April 27, 2023, panelists will discuss ways to speed up the advancement of electric vehicle infrastructure in the country.

The panel will have Sudhendu J. Sinha, Adviser at NITI Aayog, Abhishek Dabas, CEO of Gentari Green Mobility India, and Awadhesh Kumar Jha, Executive Director at Fortum Charge & Drive India

Priya Sanjay, Managing Director, Mercom India, will moderate the session.

India’s plans to adopt EVs could generate a lucrative opportunity worth billions of dollars while driving demand for clean energy generation assets.

The process has already begun with large manufacturers introducing all-electric vehicles into their product range. The government, on its part, has been encouraging the growth of the EV sector through programs like the Production Linked Incentive for electric automobiles, components, and battery chemistry. The Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid &) Electric Vehicles in India (FAME) program is in its second phase of implementation.

Mercom will also host its third annual Mercom India Awards at the Summit, recognizing the exceptional achievement and technological innovations by companies contributing to India’s clean energy industry.

The event will also, for the first time, feature a Startup Pitch Competition, which will provide the stage for Indian entrepreneurs and companies to present their innovative cleantech ideas or technologies in early-stage development.
