In an interview on the sidelines of the Mercom India Renewables Summit 2026 held in New Delhi on July 1 and 2, Srivatsa, GM Sales and Technical Operations, GenX PV, said India has achieved significant scale in module and cell manufacturing, with over 200 GW of installed module capacity and rapidly growing cell production. Domestic production of Balance of System (BOS) components, specifically junction boxes, has reached approximately 120–150 gigawatts of capacity, signaling a clear shift from imports to domestic supply. Domestic players offer distinct advantages, including shorter lead times and improved field serviceability through local technical support.
