The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Bhopal has invited expressions of interest (EoI) to implement a 2 MW captive solar project.

Bids must be submitted by August 11, 2025. Bids will be opened on August 12.

Bidders must furnish an earnest money deposit of ₹250,000 (~$2,898.68).

The scope of work entails the planning, design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of the solar project. It also involves providing operations and maintenance services for ten years.

Selected bidders must conduct site surveys, technical feasibility, and regulatory and policy assessments. They must also obtain all necessary permits and approvals from local authorities (central or state), distribution companies, and IISER.

Successful bidders must undertake any modifications to the campus’ existing 345 kW solar and electrical power distribution system to integrate with the 2 MW project. They must also provide battery storage compatible with the solar project and the inverters.

The scope of work includes providing the supporting galvanized steel structure to sustain the solar panel and wind pressure loads. It also involves providing integrated microprocessor-based supervisory control and data acquisition systems for the control and monitoring of the project.

Selected bidders must provide all the labor, material, services, tools, and equipment for the project. They must also conduct the required civil work.

Successful bidders must get the project’s design and operational workflow chart vetted by the National Institute of Technology or the Indian Institute of Technology. They must also get the complete system vetted by a third party.

The project must adhere to the standards of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, the Central Public Works Department specifications, and relevant Indian Standard codes.

The project must be completed within six months.

Bidders must have completed any of the following in the past seven years, by the end of June 2025:

  • Three similar works, each with a minimum capacity of 40% of the 2,000 kV solar project
  • Two similar works, each with a minimum capacity of 60% of the 2,000 kV solar project
  • One similar work with a minimum capacity of 80% of the 2,000 kV solar project

Bidders must have an average annual financial turnover of at least ₹50 million (~$579,634) during the last three financial years.

Bidders must have a positive profit after tax in over two of the previous five consecutive balance sheets.

Bidders must provide either of the following documents:

  • A banker’s certificate of at least ₹40 million (~$463,707) from any scheduled bank
  • A certificate denoting a minimum net worth of ₹10 million (~$115,926) issued by a certified chartered accountant

In July last year, the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad invited EoIs to set up a 3.5 MW captive solar photovoltaic project to maximize energy savings at its campus.
