Heelstone Renewable Energy, an independent power producer and a Qualitas Energy company, has acquired the development-stage Cypress Pointe Solar project in Texas.

Located in Sabine County within the Southwest Power Pool market, the project has a planned capacity of approximately 188 MW.
Heelstone expects it to begin commercial operations in 2029.

Azimuth Renewables developed Cypress Pointe Solar through its early and mid-stage phases and advanced the project before the acquisition. Azimuth is an energy infrastructure developer based in St. Louis, Missouri.

The transaction follows Heelstone’s financial closings in July of this year for three solar projects totaling 86 MW. The company said those closings supported the expansion of its development and operating portfolio. In July 2026, Qualitas Energy secured approximately €53 million (~$61 million) to finance the construction of a 117 MW solar portfolio in Poland.

Additionally, in 2026, the company announced the acquisition of a development-stage solar project in Illinois, U.S., with a planned capacity of 164 MW from Bechtel Enterprises, and the acquisition of a portfolio of nine operational solar photovoltaic projects in Poland with a total installed capacity of 376 MWp.

Founded in 2012 and headquartered in Durham, North Carolina, Heelstone develops, finances, builds, and operates utility-scale solar, wind, and energy storage projects. The company said it has developed or brought into commercial operation more than 80 solar photovoltaic projects totaling over 1.2 GW.

According to Mercom’s 1H and Q2 2026 Solar Funding and M&A report, approximately 25.2 GW of solar projects were acquired in the first half of 2026, compared to 19.9 GW in the first half of 2025.
