Engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) company Hartek Group has commissioned Punjab’s first agrivoltaic solar open access project in Kapurthala, Punjab.

The project integrates solar power generation with agricultural land use, combining renewable energy development with sustainable farming practices.

The project is expected to generate over seven million units of clean electricity annually, helping to reduce carbon emissions and support the decarbonization of industrial operations in the region.

Hartek has connected over 10 GW of solar capacity to the grid and also installed over 200 MW of rooftop solar capacity across the country.

Hartek also manufactures power distribution products, specializing in 11 kV and 33 kV medium-voltage switchboard panels, low-voltage switchboard panels, control relay panels up to 220kV, compact substations, and busbar trunking.

Last month, the company’s power systems business unit secured cumulative substation and transmission infrastructure orders worth ₹7.35 billion (~$80.85 million) across the utility, independent power producer, and industrial segments. The projects are spread across Jammu, Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh, and cover voltage levels ranging from 66 kV to 765 kV.

The company’s renewables division has been expanding its footprint in the past few months. Hartek recently commissioned a 30 MW solar project under the Punjab open access program.

In January, Hartek bagged the EPC contract for a 280 MW solar project, along with an 80 MW/320 MWh battery energy storage system at Challakere in Karnataka. The total contract value is approximately ₹3.53 billion (~$39.2 million).

Last November, Hartek commissioned a 300 MW solar power project in Rajasthan. The company had won the contract from an independent power producer in 2024, with an estimated cost of ₹4.74 billion (~$53 million).

In July 2025, Hartek Group secured a contract from the Power Grid Corporation of India to develop a 400 kV air-insulated substation. This substation is part of the transmission program to integrate renewable energy zones in Davanagere, Chitradurga, and Ballari districts of Karnataka.
