GIMS Energy and Schnell Energy Equipment have won NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam’s (NVVN) auction to set up 3.45 MW of rooftop solar projects across three districts of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
GIMS Energy won 2.1 MW, and Schnell Energy Equipment won 1.38 MW.
NVVN floated the tender in May 2025.
The buildings covered under the tender fall under the departments of Police, Agriculture, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Integrated Development Corporation, and Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services.
It also covers buildings under the departments of Andaman Public Works Department, Civil Aviation, Civil Supplies, Dr. BR Ambedkar Institute of Technology, Education, Health, Directorate of Shipping Services, Electricity Department, Environment and Forest.
The projects also cover buildings under the departments of the District Commissioner, South Andaman; Industries, Information, Publicity & Tourism, Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya, Labour and Employment, and Port Blair Municipal Council.
The rooftop projects will cover buildings of the Department of Port Management Board, Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Rural Development, Social Welfare, Bharat Sanchar Nigam, Tagore Government College of Education, Transport, Tribal Welfare, Fisheries, Mahatma Gandhi Government College, and Zilla Parishad, North and Middle Andaman.
In addition to installing the solar systems, the successful bidders must obtain net-metering approval from the distribution company/designated agency.
The scope of work covers securing insurance for transit, storage, and erection of all project materials.
It also entails operations and maintenance for five years.
The project must be set up using modules and cells from the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) List-I and List-II, respectively. Modules must be procured from Class-I suppliers.
The modules must be of a minimum capacity of 540 Wp, and their efficiency must be at least 20%.
The projects must be commissioned within 12 months of issuance of the letter of award.
In September 2025, NVVN issued a tender to develop a 1,000 kW grid-connected rooftop solar project at the Defence Research and Development Organisation premises in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
