German Federal Network Agency Bundesnetzagentur has invited bids to develop 1.1 GW of solar projects, 1.32 GW of onshore wind projects, and 274.86 GW of biomass projects.

The deadline to submit bids for solar and biomass projects is March 1, 2022. The last date to submit bids for the wind tender is February 1, 2022.

The ceiling tariff for the solar tender is €0.0557 (~$0.062)/kWh. The ceiling tariff is increased by 8% compared to the previous three average bid prices. The agency plans to tender 3.6 GW of solar capacity in three tranches in 2022.

Of this, 100 MW of solar capacity is expected to be allocated to Baden-Wuerttemberg, 35 MW to Hesse, 150 MW to Lower Saxony, 200 MW to Rhineland-Palatinate, 229.57 MW of Saarland, and 180 MW to Saxony.

The ceiling tariff for the onshore wind tender is €0.0588 (~$0.065)/kWh. The agency will tender around 4 GW of power capacity in 2022.

For new biomass projects, the ceiling tariff is €0.162 (~$0.18)/kWh and €0.182 (~$0.20) for existing projects. The agency would tender 600 MW of biomass capacity in two tranches in 2022.

In August 2021, Bundesnetzagentur announced results for the 250 MW solar innovation auction. In all, 16 solar plus storage projects with a combined capacity of 156 MW were declared winners in the auction.

The weighted average tariff of the awarded project was €0.045 (~$0.0532)/kWh, slightly higher than in the previous round when it was €0.0429 (~$0.0501)/kWh. The lowest bid quoted by the winning bidders for the solar plus storage combination was €0.0399 (~$0.0466)/kWh, and the highest bid was €0.0548 (~$0.0641)/kWh.

Earlier in 2021, the agency auctioned 665 MW of solar projects. It selected 95 ground-mounted solar projects with 513.25 MW capacity. The lowest bid quoted for ground-mounted solar tender was €0.046 (~$0.055)/kWh, and the highest bid was €0.059 (~$0.070)/kWh.

The agency also selected 114 rooftop solar projects with a 152 MW capacity. The lowest bid quoted for rooftop solar tender was €0.0535 (~$0.063)/kWh, and the highest bid was €0.0789 (~$0.093)/kWh.

Mercom had earlier reported that Bundesnetzagentur auctioned 664 MW of wind and solar auctions. The agency received 45 bids totaling 264.15 MW of solar capacity for its 256.9 MW solar tender. The lowest bid quoted for the solar tender was €0.048 (~$0.059)/kWh, and the highest bid was €0.052 (~$0.064)/kWh.
