Germany’s Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) has invited bids to set up 296,269 kW solar projects on buildings or noise barriers.

The last date to submit bids is June 1, 2026.

Bidders must quote for a maximum tariff of €0.10 (~$0.117)/kWh. They must quote a minimum capacity of 1,001 kW.

The 296 MW tender is part of the 1,100 MW of solar projects announced by the German agency in 2026.

Under Solar Package 1, the minimum bid quantity would be reduced to 751 kW, but the change still requires approval from the European Commission. If approval is not granted by May 31, 2026, the 1,001 kW minimum will continue to apply for the June 1 bid date.

Solar Package 1 also provides for a higher 2026 auction volume of 2,300 MW before adjustments. However, the Bundesnetzagentur said this increase is pending approval from the European Commission. If approval is not granted by May 31, 2026, the announced auction volume of 296,269 kW will apply.

Last December, Germany invited bids for 282.72 MW of solar power projects.

Germany added 3.5 GW of solar capacity in the first quarter of 2026. The country’s cumulative solar capacity now stands at 121 GW. The country added 64,633 small systems totaling around 87.6 MW, 72,534 rooftop systems contributing approximately 1,389 MW, and 492 ground-mounted projects accounting for around 1,836 MW, indicating that large-scale and rooftop installations are the primary drivers of capacity growth.

In 2025, electricity generation from photovoltaic installations rose 17.4% to 70.1 TWh. Solar energy accounted for 16% of Germany’s total electricity production.

The country recently awarded 155 MW of solar projects on buildings and noise barriers in a 283 MW auction. In February, it awarded 2,341 MW in a 2,328 MW auction.

In December 2025, Germany awarded 281 MW of rooftop and noise barrier solar projects.
