Emerge Renewables has announced the successful furnace light-up of its 300 metric tons-per-day solar glass manufacturing facility in the Keshwana Industrial Area in Kotputli-Behror, Rajasthan.

The facility can produce 2.5 GW of solar glass annually, with the thicknesses ranging from 1.8 mm to 5 mm.

The solar glass plant is expected to begin commercial production by the end of August this year.

The new solar glass facility is part of the group’s broader glass manufacturing operations, which it said will total approximately 1,000 metric tons of glass-melting capacity per day.

The company said this includes production capacities of 210 metric tons per day of sheet glass with thicknesses ranging from 1 mm to 10 mm, 210 metric tons per day of flint glass bottles, and 240 metric tons per day of colored glass bottles.

Emerge Renewables said the facility would add domestic solar glass manufacturing capacity and support the solar module supply chain. The company said the facility’s proximity to solar module manufacturers in North India could reduce delivery lead times.

Backed by the Alstone Group and Emerge Glass, the company said it draws on Alstone’s 22-year operating history and Emerge’s 14 years of glass manufacturing experience.

The announcement of a new solar glass manufacturing facility is significant as India’s solar module manufacturing capacity rises to 203,637 MW under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s Approved List of Model and Manufacturers.

It is also underscored by the U.S. FEOC rules, which open new export opportunities for solar manufacturers as India positions itself as a China+1 alternative.

In 2025, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry finalized anti-dumping duties on imports of textured tempered solar glass from China and Vietnam. Continuing the import restrictions, the Ministry of Finance extended the countervailing duty on imports of textured tempered glass originating in or exported from Malaysia for an additional 5 years.
