Agencies in India issued tenders for 44.1 GW and auctioned 16.3 GW of renewable energy capacity across energy storage, hybrid, utility-scale solar, wind, manufacturing, and rooftop solar projects in the first half of 2026, according to Mercom India’s newly released India Renewable Energy Procurement and Demand Report.

The Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC) allowed consumers with single-phase low-tension connections to install rooftop solar systems of up to 5 kW. Under the APERC Grid Interactive Solar Rooftop Photovoltaic Systems under Net/Gross Metering Regulation, 2023, consumers with single-phase connections were previously permitted to install rooftop solar systems only up to 3 kW.

The Bihar Electricity Regulatory Commission proposed that wind and solar projects with battery energy storage systems, with capacities above 10 MW and connected at 33 kV or higher, must be capable of increasing their output to at least 105% of the operating level and up to 105% or 110% of their Maximum Continuous Rating, to provide primary response when grid frequency falls.

The Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission admitted a petition seeking a parallel electricity distribution license for a data center park in Noida. Adani Energy Solutions Step Eleven and Adani Energy Solutions have sought a license to supply and distribute electricity within the Data Center Park being developed by DC Development Noida.
