Changes to banking regulations, settlement mechanisms, and open access charges across states are altering the economics of renewable power procurement for commercial and industrial consumers, according to developers operating in the segment.
The Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission approved the power sale agreement between GRIDCO and the Solar Energy Corporation of India for procuring 600 MW of wind power.
The Uttar Pradesh Government announced higher exemptions from transmission and wheeling charges, along with additional financial incentives for data centers that meet specific renewable energy consumption thresholds, as part of its new data center policy.
The Delhi government announced plans to provide 3 kW rooftop solar systems with no upfront capital expenditure under PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana for 230,000 households by March 2027. The benefit announced as part of the revised Delhi Solar Energy Policy will benefit households with monthly electricity consumption of at least 400 units.
Uttarakhand Power Corporation invited bids through three tenders to develop grid-interactive standalone battery energy storage systems with a cumulative capacity of 100 MW/250 MWh at 33/11 kV substations across the state. The Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation invited bids to set up 1.375 MW of rooftop solar systems on the control room terraces and office rooftops of various substations in the state. Bids for Navsari, Vapi and Vav must be submitted by September 11, 2026, and those for Keshod, Junagadh, Kodinar, Dhoraji and Manavadar by September 14.
