Coal India announced the winner of the auction to appoint an owner’s engineer-cum-engineering consultancy firm for an 187.5 MW/750 MWh battery energy storage system at Telangana Transmission Corporation’s Choutuppal substation. The tender was issued on May 19, 2026.

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) extended the exemption from the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) List II requirement for solar cells for net metering and open access renewable energy projects commissioned on or before December 31, 2026. The Ministry clarified that the exemption is limited to these project categories and does not constitute a blanket extension of the ALMM List II implementation timeline.

The Solar Energy Corporation of India invited expressions of interest from bulk electricity consumers seeking to procure renewable energy under long-term arrangements. The last day to submit bids is August 17, 2026. Bids will be opened on the next day.

The three distribution companies of Rajasthan invited bids to procure power from pilot-based, small-scale, standalone decentralized battery energy storage systems totaling 172 MW/688 MWh under a ‘Build-Own-Operate’ model. The last date to submit bids online is August 12, 2026. Bids will be opened on August 14.

Kosovo began construction of its first-ever auction-awarded 105 MW grid-connected solar project in the village of Kramovik in the Municipality of Rahovec. A consortium comprising Orllati, Holdigaz, ZPV, and Jaha Solar was declared the auction winner in March 2024.

Powerica acquired a 49% stake in Fuji-Kailash Energy, a Gujarat-based renewable energy generation and distribution company, for ₹30 million (~$311,365). The company’s board of directors approved the investment on April 21, 2026, and the equity shares were allotted to the company on May 22, 2026.

Electric two-wheeler manufacturer Ather Energy’s board approved a preferential issue to raise up to ₹12 billion (~$124.5 million) through a combination of equity shares and convertible warrants. The fundraising comprises a preferential issue of 1.6 million equity shares at ₹1,230 (~$12.76) per share and 7.9 million convertible warrants at ₹1,260 (~$13.7) per warrant.

Industrial chemicals manufacturer Primo Chemicals signed power purchase and share subscription agreements to source approximately 50 MW of power from a solar project being developed by Arpa Infrastructure Developers and Sun Photonics’ special purpose vehicle, TPCS, under the captive model.

Solar glass manufacturer Borosil Renewables reported a revenue of ₹4.06 billion (~$42.1 million) for the first quarter of the financial year 2027, a 17.1% year-over-year increase from ₹3.47 billion (~$36 million). Four U.S. lawmakers have urged the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the Internal Revenue Service to take immediate action against imports of partially processed solar cells, commonly referred to as “blue wafers,” alleging that some companies are evading trade duties and improperly claiming federal manufacturing tax credits intended to support domestic solar manufacturing.
