The City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra (CIDCO) has commissioned a 1 MW rooftop solar project at its Vashi premises to cut power costs and meet its sustainability goals.

The installation delivered by Galaxy Solar deployed half-cut mono PERC modules from LONGi and Panasonic (both 550 Wp), coupled with Solis 100 kW string inverters. The system is mounted on a Kalzip standing seam bracket structure fabricated in Al 6063-T6, minimizing roof penetration and ensuring long-term durability.

CIDCO had an average monthly energy consumption of 200,000 units. The project is expected to save 120,000 units of energy consumption from grid, delivering an annual electricity bill savings of ₹19.02 million (~$217,298), with a payback period of roughly 2.5 years.

Galaxy Solar said that space and access constraints at the site were addressed through optimized design, efficient planning, and close coordination with local authorities, enabling a robust and compliant buildout.

“We are thrilled to share that this project has significantly strengthened our relationship with CIDCO, a highly valued and prestigious client for Galaxy Solar. This successful collaboration follows our challenging 300 kW RCC installation for them in 2020, which we completed amidst the COVID-19 crisis. Both of these projects highlight how our shared vision can lead to remarkable achievements, even when faced with difficult circumstances,” Shyamal Chatterjee, MD & CEO at Galaxy Solar, said.

With low interest rates, government-backed subsidies, and streamlined digital processing, there has never been a better time for companies to invest in solar energy. By adopting solar power, businesses can cut electricity costs and become sustainable in their operations.

Mercom India hosts a multicity ‘C&I Clean Energy Meet’ series designed to provide commercial and industrial energy buyers with the knowledge and tools they need to adopt clean energy solutions and lower their power costs. The next Clean Energy Meet event will be held in Jaipur on September 19, 2025.
