Chennai Port Authority Invites Bids for 2 MW Rooftop Solar Project

Chennai Port Authority has invited bids to set up a 2 MW grid-connected rooftop solar project at its export-import (EXIM) godown under the renewable energy service company (RESCO) model.
The scope of work includes the feasibility of installation on the identified rooftop on the shed; obtaining a no-objection certificate from the distribution company for grid connectivity; execution of the power purchase agreement; and the complete design, engineering, erection, and commissioning of the project, including operation and maintenance for 25 years.
The last date to submit bids is April 9, 2026. Bids will be open the following day.
Bidders must submit ₹2.4 million (~$25,901) as an earnest money deposit. The successful bidder must deposit 5% of the estimated project cost within 14 days of receipt of the order as a performance bank guarantee towards the fulfilment of the contract conditions.
The estimated cost of the project is ₹120 million (~$1.29 million).
Chennai Port Authority has set the ceiling tariff at ₹5.46/kWh (~$0.058).
The successful bidder must complete the project work within 180 days from the date of issue of the work order.
The average annual financial turnover of bidders during the last three financial years should be at least ₹36 million (~$388,516).
They should have completed three similar works of ₹48 million (~$518,021) each, or two similar works of ₹60 million (~4647,526) each, or one similar work of ₹96 million (~$1.04 million) during the last seven years.
Alternatively, they should have completed three similar works of 0.8 MW each, or two similar works of 1 MW each, or one similar work of 1.6 MW during the last seven years.
Preference will be given to Class I and Class II local suppliers. The minimum local content for Class I and Class II local suppliers should be 50% and 20%, respectively, or as decided by the relevant nodal ministry for the item.
The solar modules used in the project should be from the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers as per the order of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
Last December, Chennai Port Authority floated a tender for a 2 MW grid-connected rooftop solar project at its EXIM godowns.
