Solar power has been the primary focus of large-scale projects over the years, but the trend is now shifting towards a hybrid model combining solar with wind and energy storage owing to the demand for round-the-clock renewable energy from consumers.

Solar power can generate electricity during the day, which is complimented by wind power generation at night. Energy storage solutions such as batteries and pumped hydro storage can retain the excess energy generated during the low-demand period and utilize it when the demand surges.

The current and future trends in renewable energy will be one of the topics industry experts will discuss at the ‘Mercom India Renewables Summit 2023,’ an exclusive event on April 26-27 in New Delhi.

At a session titled ‘Changing Landscape of Renewable Projects ‘scheduled for April 26, 2023, panelists will shed light on the evolution of large-scale projects from vanilla solar to solar with wind and energy storage, catering to the round-the-clock and peak power supply demand from power distribution companies.

The panel will have Dilip Nigam, Adviser at MNRE; Shivanand Nimbargi, MD & CEO at Ayana Renewable Power; Prashant Choubey, President at Avaada Energy; Venkatesh R, CEO at Everrenew Energy; and Prashant Mathur, CEO at Saatvik Green Energy.

Priya Sanjay, Managing Director, Mercom India, will moderate the session.

Integrating renewable sources and energy storage technologies can provide a continuous clean energy supply that matches the country’s energy demand. These hybrid renewable energy systems can offer other benefits, such as increased reliability, stability of the grid, and reduced curtailment.

Mercom will also host its third annual Mercom India Awards at the Summit, recognizing the exceptional achievement and technological innovations by companies contributing to India’s clean energy industry.

The event will also, for the first time, feature a Startup Pitch Competition, which will provide the stage for Indian entrepreneurs and companies to present their innovative cleantech ideas or technologies in early-stage development.
