The Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) has invited bids to install 72.5 MW rooftop solar projects on BPDB’s buildings under the third-party operational expenditure model.

Bidders must submit a tender security amount of ₹800,000 (~$9,107)/MW and a tender document of ₹5,000 (~$56.9).

The last date to submit bids is November 30, 2025. Bids will be opened on the same day.

The rooftop projects must be installed on BPDB’s 17 buildings. The project’s capacities will range from 1,500 kW to 7,500 kW.

They will be set up on buildings located in Cumilla, Noakhali, Chattometro, Rangamati, Cox’s Bazar, Mymensingh, Jamalpur, Tangail, Sylhet, and Moulvibazar districts.

The tender is part of the Bangladesh National Rooftop Solar Program, which aims to generate 3 GW from rooftop projects on government buildings, schools and hospitals by the end of 2025.

The projects are being executed under the BPDB’s revenue budget.

They will be set up under the build-own-operate model.

In January this year, BPDB invited bids for installing solar power projects with a cumulative capacity of 1,780 MW at 19 locations in Bangladesh.

In March, the Dhaka Electricity Supply Company (DESCO) floated an expression of interest to set up 120 MW of on-grid solar power projects in Dhaka under the design-build-finance-operate-and-maintain model. The project involves setting up 120 MW of solar projects across eight lots in eight operational DESCO circles.

In December 2024, the BPDB floated 12 tenders for a total capacity of 353 MW grid-connected solar power projects.

In 2023, Bangladesh’s Rural Power Company awarded Amara Raja Infra and Premier Solar Powertech a 100 MW solar project contract. The project was valued at $130 million.

The same year, BPDB floated three tenders for the construction of 77.6 MW (DC) of grid-connected solar projects across the country on a turnkey basis.
