Aukera Energy, a pan-European renewable energy and battery storage developer, has closed a €460 million (~$533 million) structured credit facility led by institutional investor EIG.

The financing expands an earlier facility that included an initial €200 million (~$232 million) commitment and an accordion feature of up to €250 million (~$290 million). Under the amended arrangement, the accordion has been converted into a firmly committed €260 million (~$302 million) Series 2 tranche, bringing the total committed capital under the facility to €460 million (~$533 million).

Aukera said the additional capital will support the development of renewable energy generation, battery storage, and other energy infrastructure projects in its five European markets, including Belgium, the United Kingdom, Germany, Romania, and Italy.

The company currently has close to 1 GW of projects under construction or in operation across all of its markets. Its development pipeline exceeds 14 GW of renewable energy and energy infrastructure projects in Europe.

Founded in 2021 by Pascal Emsens and Catalin Breaban, Aukera develops, finances, constructs, and operates renewable energy and battery storage assets. The Brussels-based company is backed by AtlasInvest, Reggeborgh, and SFPIM, Belgium’s sovereign wealth fund.

In June 2026, the company reached financial close of €97.5 million (~$106 million) on Project Volt, a 170 MW/340 MWh battery energy storage project in La Louvière, Belgium. The project is expected to enter commercial operations in mid-2027.

Aukera also secured a €60 million (~$70 million) debt facility in 2025 from Kommunalkredit Austria for the development and construction of its 250 MW/500 MWh stand-alone battery energy storage project located in Gura Ialomitei, Lalomita County, Romania.

Announced debt and public market financing for the Energy Storage sector in 1H 2026 totaled $7.3 billion in 22 deals, a 1% decrease compared to $7.4 billion across 19 deals in 1H 2025, according to Mercom’s recently released 1H and Q2 2026 Energy Storage Funding and M&A report.
