Battery manufacturer Amara Raja Energy and Mobility has announced plans to incorporate a wholly owned subsidiary in the U.S., to be named “ARE&M US Inc.”
The entity is proposed to be incorporated in three to six months and will operate in the energy and mobility segment, including battery and components distribution.
The company has approved an investment of up to $5 million in the proposed subsidiary, which may be made in one or more tranches through equity, loans, other securities, or capital expenditure.
Upon incorporation, the U.S. entity will be a wholly owned subsidiary of Amara Raja Energy and Mobility, with the parent company subscribing to 100% of its share capital in accordance with applicable U.S. laws and compliance requirements.
The company said establishing a U.S. entity will enable the evaluation of future localization initiatives, including potential manufacturing or assembly operations in the region.
Amara Raja is focused on lithium-ion cell and pack manufacturing, EV charging products, and energy storage solutions. Its existing manufacturing footprint includes a stationary pack assembly capacity of approximately 1.2 GWh at Tirupati and a mobility pack assembly capacity of around 1.5 GWh at Divitipally in Andhra Pradesh. The Tirupati facility also houses an EV charger assembly plant producing 7.4 kW Type-1 AC chargers.
In November 2025, Amara Raja Energy and Mobility posted a revenue of ₹34.67 billion (~$390.85 million) in the second quarter of the financial year 2026, a 6.7% year-over-year increase from ₹32.5 billion (~$366.46 million).
Amara Raja joins a list of Indian renewable energy companies that have set up or announced plans to establish manufacturing facilities in the U.S. to benefit from U.S. government incentives under its reshoring push. In late 2024, Waaree Solar Americas, a subsidiary of module manufacturer Waaree Group, set up a 1.6 GW facility in Brookshire, Texas. Saatvik Solar has also announced plans to start a manufacturing facility in the U.S.
