Airports Authority Floats O&M Tender for 1.2 MW Solar Project at Varanasi

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has floated a tender for the annual operation and maintenance of a 1.2 MW ground-mounted solar power project for 24 months at the Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport in Varanasi.

The contract will also extend to the maintenance of electrical and mechanical installations at the site.

The project’s estimated cost is ₹29 million (~$350,413).

The last date to submit bids is April 8, 2024. Bids will be opened on April 22.

Bidders must submit a tender processing fee of ₹1,180 (~$14.2) and an earnest money deposit of ₹582,177 (~$7,008).

Bidders must submit a performance bank guarantee of 5% of the tendered document within 30 days of the issue of the letter of award.

The scope of work consists of the annual operation and maintenance of electrical and mechanical installations, including the annual maintenance of a 1.2 MW solar project, operational area, ATC tower cum technical block, and AAI residential colony at the airport.

Eligible contractors should have completed three works, each of ₹5.82 million (~$69,982), or two works, each of ₹7.28 million (~$87,538), or one work of ₹11.64 million (~$139,964) in the single contract of similar nature, i.e., operation and maintenance of Airport Ground Light Facilities system during the last seven years.

To be eligible, bidders must demonstrate an average annual financial turnover of ₹4.36 million ($52,427) in the last three years or have a minimum net worth of ₹2.18 million ($26,214).

In March last year, the Ministry of Civil Aviation advised the authorities at the state level to ensure that carbon emission reduction measures are incorporated into the design and standards for greenfield airport development proposals, detailed project reports, and airport master plans before submitting them to the nodal ministry.
