The Airport Authority of India (AAI) has issued a tender for the procurement of solar power by Amritsar Airport through open access.

According to the tender documents, Amritsar Airport is looking to procure 1.577 million units of solar power every year for a contract period of 10 years.

Bidders would be selected based on the lowest quoted tariff. The power supplier would be mandated to supply at least 6% of the annual contracted energy. In case the actual energy supplied in any month of a contract year is less than 6% of the annual contracted energy, the seller would be liable to pay the penalty at the rate of 25% of the quoted tariff.

The procurer, according to the tender, is willing to take at least 90% of the contracted energy (minimum offtake guarantee) at the delivery point in each year.

Interested bidders would have to demonstrate a net worth of ₹10 million ($141,070). Further, they would also have to provide experience certificates for the completion of a 1 MW solar energy project.

Each bidder would have to provide bid security of ₹500,000 ($7,053). Moreover, April 4, 2020, is the date of commencement for the supply of power under this project.

The last date of submission of bids for this tender is November 18, 2019.

The AAI, which comes under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, is working on the use of sustainable solar power to fuel operations at various facilities across the country.

In September 2019, the AAI announced tender for a 100 kW grid-connected rooftop solar project to be installed at Pune Airport’s terminal building.  In the same month, it also issued a tender for 1 MW of grid-connected solar projects at Begumpet Airport in Hyderabad.

AAI had also recently issued three different Request for Proposals (RfPs) for the procurement of a total of 3.7 MW of solar power through open access for the airports of Raipur, Coimbatore, and Aurangabad.
