Nearly 30 GW of solar tenders were floated in 2022.

Here is a curated list of top solar tenders from the year:

#1 The largest tender floated in 2022 was by REMC Limited, a joint venture of the Indian Railways and RITES, to set up 1.548 GW of ground-mounted solar power projects near the traction substations at 25 kV connectivity across India. The projects will be developed on a build, own, and operate basis. The respective nodal zonal railway will sign the power purchase agreements with the successful solar power developer.

#2 The second largest tender was floated by REC Power Development and Consultancy (RECPDCL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of REC Limited, to set up 1,250 MW of inter-state transmission system (ISTS)-connected solar power projects (Tranche I) across India. These projects aim to maintain flexibility in the generation and scheduling of thermal or hydropower stations through bundling with renewable energy and storage power.

#3 The third largest tender was floated by Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam (MPUVNL) to set up 1,250 MW of grid-connected solar power projects under Component C of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) program at various locations in Madhya Pradesh. The Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company will procure the power from the projects.

#4 The fourth largest tender was issued by Bundelkhand Saur Urja (BSUL) to develop grid-connected solar projects in the 1.2 GW Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Power Park in Jalaun, Uttar Pradesh. MNRE had approved BSUL as the solar power park developer to implement the 1,200 MW Jalaun Solar Park.

#5 The fifth largest tender was issued by Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL) to procure 1,000 MW of solar power from projects developed in the state. MSEDCL had set a ceiling tariff of ₹3.10 (~$0.039)/kWh for the tender.
