Bids Invited to Set Up Charging Stations for 225 Electric Buses in Uttar Pradesh

The projects will be developed in Prayagraj, Ghaziabad, Gorakhpur, and Kanpur

The Construction and Design Services of Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam has invited bids to set up charging stations for 225 electric buses at Prayagraj, Ghaziabad, Gorakhpur, and Kanpur.

The last date to submit the bids for the charging station at Prayagraj is October 31, 2020, and the bids will be opened on the same date.

The bidder should have completed similar works in the last ten years to participate in the competitive bidding process. The bidder should have completed three similar projects costing not less than 30% of the bid quantity, or two similar projects costing not less than 40% of the total cost of work, or one similar project costing not less than 60% of the cost of work put to bid. The bidder should have executed at least one project costing at least 30% of the estimated cost with some central or state government agencies or organizations.

As per the tender documents, joint venture firms are not allowed to participate in the tender.

Regarding the financial criteria, the bidder’s average annual turnover in the last three years should be 30% of the work cost. The firm should not have incurred any losses in more than two years in the previous five financial years, and it should have a positive net worth. A solvency certificate of 40% of the tender value will be required to be submitted by the bidder.

In another tender, UP Jal Nigam has invited bids to construct a charging station, shed, and other respective works for operating 50 electric buses in Ghaziabad.

The total cost of the project is estimated to be ₹40.1 million (~$541,959), and interested bidders will have to submit an amount of ₹805,000 (10,879) as the earnest money deposit (EMD).

The last date to submit the bids is November 13, 2020, and the bids will be opened on the same day.

UP Jal Nigam has also invited bids for setting up a charging station for operating 25 electric buses in Gorakhpur.

The project’s total cost is expected to be ₹46.08 million (~$622,779), and interested bidders will have to submit an amount of ₹922,000 (~$12,461) as the EMD.

The last date to submit the bids for the tender has been extended to November 02, 2020.

UP Jal Nigam has floated another tender for constructing a charging station for 100 electric buses in Kanpur.

The last date to submit the bids is November 10, 2020, and the opening of bids will take place on the same date. The project’s estimated cost is ₹51.2 million (~$691,977), and interested bidders will have to submit an amount of ₹1 million (~$13,515) as the EMD.

The eligibility criteria remain the same for all four tenders.

In January this year, the Construction and Design Services of Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam had floated a tender for the construction of 25 charging stations with sheds for electric buses at Mahesara in Gorakhpur district of Uttar Pradesh.

Last year, Uttar Pradesh launched its Electric Vehicle Manufacturing and Mobility Policy 2019 to promote electric vehicles and supporting infrastructure in the state. The state has been the third-largest beneficiary of the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid & Electric Vehicles in India (FAME) program. It has around 1,39,000 registered EVs, which is the highest in India.
